SENIORS CLASS OF 1949 ln terms of student leadership and responsibility, the Senior Class is the most important high school aroup. ln this respect, the Class ot l949 has made outstanding accomplishments. Members ot the class have held important positions ot leadership in music, athletics, journalism, and student affairs. They not only helped manaae and direct these activities but have Worked with all students to help the various activity aroups reach their objectives. r Class oiticers tor the senior year are Robert lohnston, president, Archie Redfield vice-president, Ramona Kerchal, secretary, Lucile Walaren, treasurer, Mary Ellen McBride, student council representative, and Bette lo McDowell and Lloyd E. McCann, sponsors. DORIS ANDERSON has participated in girls qlee club, mixed chorus, and band during all four years. She sang in girls' octette and mixed octette one year. She was also in the Sunbonnet Girl cast. Andy, editor of 'lHOOfDl'l1'1lS,H has 1 been a member ot Quill 6- Scroll, F. H. A., Broncho Boosters, A and Student Council. R 'f' 7 MARIORIE BARTELS was a member of qlee club, mixed chorus and Broncho Boosters for tour ears. During her .. t I Y junior year she was vice president of the pep club and it class representative on the Student Council. 'fl U ' v LOVINA BLEY was a member of qirls qlee club and mixed chorus during her sophomore and junior years and F.H.A. dur- ing her iunior year. SHIRLEY CARTER'S school activities have included four A -g years of qirls qlee club and mixed chorus. HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS Leonard Blinde has been at Wauneta for two years. He is in charge of both band and choral music in high school and teaches public school music to grades seven and eight. He attended Midland College and the University of Nebraska. Loral E. Dunn has taught science in Wauneta High school for three years, and has taught driver training this year. He holds a B. Sc. degree from the University of Nebraska and a M. A. degree from the University ot Michigan. Freda lhrig received her A. B. degree from Peru State Teachers College. She is dramatics coach and teaches English and social studies. She has taught at Wauneta three years. Treva Lewis holds a B. Sc. degree from Kearney State Teachers College. This is her first year at Waunetw. She teaches vocational home economics and is adviser for the Broncho Boosters. Lloyd E. McCann has an A. B. degree from Peru State Teachers College and a M. A. degree from Colorado State College ot Education at Greeley. He has also done graduate work at the University of Nebraska and is working on the degree of Doctor of Education at Greeley. He has been superintendent at Wauneta for two years. He teaches social studies and is adviser for the BRONCHO and the Student Council Bette Io McDowell received an A. B. degree from Kearney State Teachers College. She teaches business educa- tion and is adviser for HOOEPBINTS. She has been at Wauneta for three years. Glenn W. Nicklas has taught vocational agriculture at Wauneta for three years and is adviser for the Future Farmers of America. He received a B. Sc. degree from New Mexico State College and has done graduate work at the University of Nebraska. Robert R. Wachs is completing his first year as athletic coach and teacher of mathematics at Wauneta. He holds the B. SC. degree from Colorado State College ot Education at Greeley, and has done additional work on the M. A. degree at Greeley. -10-

CLASS OF 1949 PATRICIA CHRISTNER was in the cast for A Ready Made Family , and she was winner of the humorous division of the local declamatory contest. Pat was a member of F.l'l.A., Broncho Boosters, glee club, and chorus. BETTY DICKSON, who had a perfect attendance during her sophomore and junior years, attended school in Wauneta for twelve years. Her activities were El-l.A., Broncho Boosters, glee club, and chorus. NCRMAN CAGE was chosen class president during his fresh- man year, was a member of glee club and chorus for three years, and was on the basketball squad and the football team one year each. RAMONA GARDNER participated in glee club and pep club during her first two high school years. As a junior Monte was a member of F.H.A. and during her senior year she was on the HOOEPRINT staff. DCNNA CRAVES was a member of the majorette corps during her junior and senior years. Among her other activities were glee club, chorus, Broncho Boosters, and F.H.A. CONNIE HAARBERGS school activities have included glee club, chorus, dramatics, P.H.A., and Broncho Boosters, Connie also maintained an outstanding scholastic average. LILA HAARBERC sang in girls glee club and mixed chorus during her four years in high school. She held membership in Broncho Boosters and F.H.A. one year each. MARLIES f-IAARBERG has taken a general course and has supplemented her studies with glee club, chorus, F.H.A., and Broncho Booster activities. SANDRA HACHELROAD has participated in glee club, chorus, Broncho Boosters, and band. She was in A Ready-Made Family, played in the clarinet quartette, sang in girls octette, was associate editor of the BRONCHO during her junior yearp and was BRONCHO editor, cheerleader, and a member of the Sunbonnet Girl cast during her senior year. WALLACE HARTZER, better known as Ace was a dili- gent member of F.F.A. for four years. He also sang in glee club, chorus, and was on the football and track QJQQQ squads. aj 4-f v' il rf ': , +-4 1
