The 1986 Boys' Tennis team had a close season this year. They put up a tough fight against a hard conference and came out of it all with a 10-9 record. According to Coach Pace, They are one year away from being very good. As always, Watchung Hills had a wealth of talented athletes. Rick Schwager and Andy Kirschner won the county 1st Doubles Championship. The 1986 Junior Varsity Baseball Team finished its season with a 7-8 record. Although half the team was comprised of freshmen, the boys were able to unite their talents to be victorious over many opponents. The 1986 Girls' Varsity Softball team had a record breaking season with fourteen wins; their most wins ever! Their overall record also top- ped all those of the past years, being 14-9. All this can be contributed to an excellent team made up of a host of extremely talented athletes. The end of the year saw the players with awards to take home. Lori Falzarano received the MVP award, which was greatly deserved after performing such feats as two no-hitters against Hunterdon Central and Pingry. Other team members who reaped the awards of their talent were Maria Wellbrock - Coaches Award, Nancy LaPorta - Player of the Year, Ellen Vagelos - Best Defense, Jacque Haskell - Most Improved, and outstanding freshman member Beth Niesmertelny - Best Offense.
