Once again they swam their way to being Somerset County tournament and Mid-State Conference champs. In addition to these phenominal successes, the girls also became Central Jersey Section and State B champs. The amount of talent concerted together on one team has been the prime reason for the teams incredible season. All the girls should be commended for their participation on the team, but there are still a few that cannot go unmentioned. Four of the team's most celebrated swimmers have been Stephanie Wriede, Nathalie Wunderlich, Sue Whalen, and Dierdre Wilton. Aside from their swimming abilities, the team is also proud to display their diving ability. Nicole Bunker, a junior at Watchung Hills, won the Mid-State Conference and Somerset County tournaments isetting new records at eachi, as well as placing 6th in the state diving competition. Although it is hard to put into words the feeling one must get from coaching a team such as this one, we still asked Mrs. Cecala to say a few words. After much thought she finally said, It was exciting and outstanding. What can you say about a team that has accomplished all its goals? Sports 165

Boys Have Personal Triumphs The Boy's Warrior Track Team proved to be a hard working and ompetitive group of athletes. Although their overall record was a losing one, the team showed a pro- gressive increase in stamina and personal development. Two things hat hurt the team were their overall lack of speed and their youth. Yet, he season gave the younger s5 wWWWiW members of the team a chance to im- prove their speed, giving them an ad- vantage for next season. When ask- ed to recall his most memorable mo- ment of the season, Coach Pieffer stated, tiWe beat Franklin Township by a score of 83 to 46. Franklin Township was defending Con- ference and County titles, and have been one of the top teams in the state. Aside from this terrific team victory, there were also several per- sonal triumphs. Senior Jamie Hendy took first in the All Conference pole vault, and junior Craig Alimo placed fourth in the same conference. Hen- dy had an impressive vault of 126, while Alimo climbed to the heights with an 11'6. Senior Eric Ford prepares to pass his Franklin opponent to win the mile run. Craig Alimo clears 108 in his second vault against Franklin. Sports 167
