R Canyon The 1986-87 Boys' Freshmen Soccer team. J.V. and Freshman Soccer The 1986-87 Boys' Junior Varsity Soccer team had a reasonably successful season. Under the coaching of Mr. Kaye, the team ended the season with a 9-7 record. There were many taiented individuals on the team, such as Joe Machin, Andy Hoge, and Andy Kipen. Recalling a high point of the season, Mr. Kaye said, Our 3-2 loss to North Hunterdon under the lights. North was undefeated and we played well against the team. The 1986-87 Freshmen Soccer team saw tough times this year. They ended the season with a 2-10-1 team record but they saw some finer moments. Mr. Baehr remembers tithe week in which we defeated North Hunterdon a team which had previously defeated usi and played excellent soccer against a very powerful Hunterdon Centra Despite the losing season,1 were still a number of talent athletes on the team: Paul I- tMVPi, Romel Sanchez, DOI Dilkes, Dan Szeliga, Torbin Svenningson tOutstanding I With a year behind them, thi freshmen team members st return next year to provide a for the JV team.

GIRLS' TENNIS TEAM Once again, the 1986-87 Girls' Tennis team was the epitome of all sports at Watchung. Not only did they blow away their opponents, coming out of the season with a 21-3 record, but they also promoted an excellence in individual enhancement. The team won Mid-State conference Championship, the Central Jersey Group III, and Championship Runner Up in the State Group III Championship.
