Curriculum Committee The Curriculum Committee at Wat- chung Hills Regional High School was designed to address problems from within, such as policies and the rights of students. The committee reviews all present programs and makes recom- mendations concerning any necessary modifications. The committee also hears all new course proposals. The Curriculum Committee assists the Board of Education and Administration in formulating policies that effect the curriculum at Watchung Hills. This committee is comprised of teachers representing the various departments as well as several students who have shown interest in the needs of our school. Mr. DiGanci and Mrs. Scardaville co-chair the organization. Other members are: Mr. Baly, Mr. Smith, Mrs. Vilain, Mrs. Testa, Mrs. Renga, Mr. Charney, Mr. Furlong, Mr. Diez, Mr. Sutter, Mrs. Higgins, Mrs. Strupp, Jessica Lipschutz, Jen Schwartz, Rich Schneider, John Chow, Brian Goldberg, Lydia Peterson, and Kelly McMahon. a ARTHUR SMITH Mr. Smith was the second uidance counselor to be hired by atchung Hills. He was hired in the spring of 195 as both a science teacher and counselor. He simultaneously taught Biology and served as a guidance counselor and later taught Natural Science. He has also advised the Newcomers Club and the Medical Careers Club. Mr. Smith notes that our school system has become more tradi- tional and conservative over the past thirty years. Some of his more memorable experiences were the quality field trl s that were taken when he was t e Director of Sum- mer School. One of his funniest moments occurred when a stu- dent rode down the 20's hall on hls motorcycle.
