DAVID PETERSON Mr. Peterson was the first guidance counselor at Watchung Hills. He was hired in March. 1957 as an English teacher and guidance counselor. He simultaneously taught American Literature and supervised eight homeroom counselors. In 1961. he became the Guidance Director. He was responsible tor coordinating and supervising his Stan. im- plementing a total program 01 guidance and counseling services. and some special ser- vlces. He has advised the newspaper and has been involved in many committees. mostly dealing with curriculum and policy. Mr. Peterson states that Watchung Hills has changed from an Innovative. experimenting school to a fairly traditional school. Also, its program has changed from an academic one to a comprehensive one. His most memorable moments were the graduations of his three children 1mm W.H.R.H.S. and the time he teoeived the National Counselor Writing Award from The American Personnel and Guidance Association. Treney Foreign Language RUTH most memorable moments. students and the community. SCHOENBORN Ms. Schoenborn was the last of the six charter teachers to be hired. She was hired in August of 1957 as a Health and Physical Education teacher. For approximately fifteen years she taught Personal Health, Driver Education, First Aid. Senior Health, and Physical Education. She then dropped atl Health courses and is presently teaching only Physical Education. Over the years she has either coached or advised the Color Guard, Drill Team, Twirlers, Usherettes, Basketball. and Softball. She has also advised the graduation ceremonies. When asked what she thought to be the biggest change that has occurred in this school, Ms. Schoenborn replied. Do you have 30 years to discuss this in detail? Her participation at the Committee Level of the 1964 Olympics that were held in Japan was one of her funniest moments happened while she was participating in the facultylstudent musicals that were presented to the Faculty '
