The Powder Puff Game '72 On October 22, the sen- ior girls swamped the junior girls in a rousing game of football at the Municipal Grounds in Warren. Both teams were fairly even, sport- ing both a good offense and defense. Meg Watts, as quarterback, along with Ginny Jayne, produced the gamels only score - 18 points for the seniors. Debbie Thomforde and Judy Snyder displayed good blocking against the juniors. Offensively, and in vain, Amy Casale and Mary Roan exhibited good play for the juniors. Maybe, next year they will do better as seniors.

WHR Faces the Issues During the month of October, the History Department, under the leadership of Mrs. Kestenbaum sponsored two lecture-and-discus- sion periods on the political issues of the 1972 election. On Octo- ber 19th, Mr. Bowen, Democratic candidate for the House of Rep- resentatives, spoke to WHRHS students about Senator McGovernts stands on political issues. The following day, Senator Bateman, the President of the New Jersey State Senate, spoke on President Nix- on,s views. The most impressive parts of the assemblies were the question- and-answer periods. The students were quite responsive and their questions sparked others to participate. For most students, these assemblies were informative and worthwhile events. As a result of Mrs. Kestenbaumts interest, and the quality of the voter education program as developed at Watchung Hills, Mrs. Kestenbaum has been asked by the Multi-District Institute of Political Science, a branch of the State Department of Education, to serve on a state wide evaluation committee. The purpose of the evaluation is to improve and strengthen the program for future distribution to additional schools in the state. Brian Shortmeier and Becky Reed, student co-ordinators for the -veter education program played an extremely active role in the implementation of the assemblies. Mrs. Marcia Kestenbaum Senator Bateman

Parents in the Classroom? The show of parents for this yeafs Back to School night, held on October 25, was disenchantingly low. To those parents who did come, the main point of interest was the schoolls new wing and its facilities. Most were impressed with the whole annex. The changing of classes went well, except for the usual few who got lost. The teachers, as you can see from these pictures, were on their best behavior, as were all the good little mommies and dad- dies, who decided to cooperate with the evenings pro- gram. There were also other affairs which took place between classes and during studies. These included the APT sign up, the ASC Scholarship Fund, and the Bake sale of the German Club, which rivaled the plain cookies and punch offered by the ASC. All in all, the evening turned out quite well, but the students do hope for a much larger attendance next year. .L Teachers conversing with parents.
