Lenape Advisor Speech Theatre Workshop Script and Cue Script and Cue Mr. Battiato, accompanied by Mrs. Travers, sponsored a class trip to the Cloister,s and to a Broadway Musical. The two Ho'nors English groups, 55 students in all, boarded the bus after homeroom with the first stop being the Cloisters Museum. Students had an opportunity to look around gathering impressions to be used for a future writing assignment. After a leisurely lunch in the Theater district, the students saw Two Gentlemen of Verona? comparing the production to their own study of Shakespeare in the classroom. Returning to school about 6:00 p.m., the students thoroughly enjoyed their interesting and full day. Mrs. Traverts English class acting out a play enabling the students to understand and rel- ate to the characters. Karen Hyman, playing the part of Beneatha in A Raisin, in the Sun demonstrates to the other players a dance of welcome, part of Beneathfs African heritage. Bonnie Kaplan, as Momma, and Steve Cohen. as Walter, look on.

The general goal of the course is to develop in the student the habits of analy- sis, criticism, understanding, and appreciation of the cinema in a disciplined and creative manner. Theater Workshop introduces the student to the various crafts and skills related to the production of plays. Depending on the stu- dent,s individual interests, there will be opportunities to work in one or more fields such as set design and construction, lighting, make-up, costume, and acting skills.
