HISTORY OF CLASS OF 1959 Our life at W.H.R.H.S. began on September 1957 when as iuniors we arrived still loyal to our former schools, Bernards High and North Plainfield High. Throughout the year our class helped lead in unifying the student body. The juniors held the first dance at W.H.R.H.S. late in September. Also our class officers were elected: President .lohn Muth, Vice-President Bonnie Hershey, Secretary Carol Moore, Treasurer Jean Woinar. Along with spring came the Junior.Prom, Stairway to the Stars, held at the Martinsville Inn. This big event was preceded by the Junior Fashion Show at which formal wear was modeled. School spirit was kindled by the tense campaign for the new All-School Council President The two candidates Roger Teese and John Muth fought a close battle climaxed by the campaign assembly Roger won the election to become the second A S C president of W H R H S In June came final exams and the Schools first yearbooks which ended our Junior year September 1958 we proudly returned to W H R H S as seniors On September 16 our class officers were elected President Pete Shave Vice President Carol Moore Secretary Dorothea Banhart Treasurer Jean Wolnar The long awaited day October 3 finally arrived with the distribution of our class rings October 17th Seniors presented the first dance of the year The Fall Kick Off in honor of the football players who could not attend because they were in training Also in October senior pictures were taken and senior superlahves elected which were shroud in mystery until the yearbooks were distributed The choice of colors for our graduation robes lglrls in white boys in slate bluel made us realize how close we were getting to leaving WH RH S To expand our class Treasury for upcoming events cake sales were held In November ln February came the point .lunior Senior Prom The next few months went by quickly with the Senior banquet and trip Final exams over we look back on a challenging educational and friendly stay at Watchung Hills Looking forward we await graduation and new experiences thankful for the help and assurance received in our two years at Watchung Hills Regional High School 38 new
