The year's first item of business for the Juniors was the ordering of our school rings. The rings were ordered and arrived in March. A recommendation was sent to the Senior Class stating that the Class of 1960 would like a ioint Junior-Senior Prom. A combined Junior-Senior Prom Committee was set up to decide on dance policies. The Prom was held at the Sommerville lnn. We plan on having two more cake sales during the second semester. Our first dance was held on December 5, 1958. The Rag Mop Bop was the name of the dance and the theme was the Roaring 2O's . Costumes were worn and prizes were given for the best costumes. Senior privileges have been a major problem of the class this year. Privileges have been sug- gested and ways to acquire them have been given to the class. Plans will be written up and sent to the A.S.C. and to the Administration for approval. The Home Rooms got together in the cafeteria before vacation. The class was asked tossing Christmas Carols through the halls. The Party was a big success. The class plans for the rest of the year are: a Y-Party, a dance, and an organ concert. We have increased our treasury by the sale of indi- vidual photographs tothe Under- classmen. We negotiated and were able to purchase class rings during our Sophomore year. We hope that our future will be as successful as our past. Jim Knox was elected president of the Freshman G.L.C. with Bob Tokash as vice-president, Pete Cipriani as treasurer and Mary Burness as secretary. Dr. Fletcher was our advisor. He helped to start us on the path of success. At our November meeting Hilary Oulton was elected to represent the Freshmen onthe newly formed Judicial Board. Second Row: Mary Ann Binns, Ethel Pelissier, Pat Maclusky, Lorraine Kelley, Marie Esposito, Judy Olsen, Sue Christie. THE 1959 LENAPE Staff has sought to bring to you an account of the past year's activities. We have tried to keep the words to a minimum, at- tempting to tell the story with pictures, which help much more than words to recall the past. As the school is growing, so grow our efforts to bring to you a more complete and comprehensive annual. Preparations for this year's publication began in the Spring of 1958 and continued throughout the i958-1959 school year. The staff has put in a great deal of time and effort to present this pictorial review of the year at Watchung Hills Regional. We want to thank Tom Christie whose car made many of our advertisements possible, Jerry Mobus whose friendship with so many in Watch- ung made others possible, Chips Mathewson for 76 his camera and patience, Marty Hedden, Claudia Van Pelt, Grace Hart and Pat Delaman who typed so many hours on the Senior biographies and of course to our salesmen, the Lenape Home Room collectors who did their iob so efficiently. Our hats also are doffed in thanks to Mr. Ryan for his advice, and Mrs. Vollmer who helped us keep our finances in the black. We would like to acknowledge our gratitude to Messieurs Irving Lloyd and Joseph De Caro for the tremendous amount of time and energy they devoted to the photography. We also wish to thank Mr. Harvey Lauche of Progress Associates, our publisher, for his assistance in organizing the book. Above all we would like to extend our great- est thanks to our advisor, Miss Anita Gleicher, for her unlimited efforts on our behalf. Though! Is Painful! .,,..-nl' I ,I H What ca Rat Race!
