Prior to that time he had served in the Ofhce of the Chief of Naval Operations. His twenty-one years of Naval Aviation experience in- clude tours in fighting, bombing, ob- servation, and patrol squadrons. In ad- dition to the above he has served in various staff capacities, and in 1944 commanded the USS GUADALCANAL and a hunter-killer task group includ- ing six destroyer escorts. . . .
