The officers carry out 1 v . .1 the necessary functions of administration, maintenance and op- 1 erations in addition to flying. i 1 Of the 169 enlisted men, the majority are assigned to the maintenance department whose responsibility it is to keep each 5 aircraft in a stage of constant readiness. The Air Group fills a solid segment of our nation's first line of defense by remaining ready to defend the sea lanes and approaches of our nation.
