IN TRIBUTE MR. JOHN HAGBERG In the retirement of Mr. Hagberg the school has lost a brilliant man and a sin- cere teacher. Before coming to Wash- ington in 1920, Mr. Hagberg taught in Puerto Rico and the Philippines. His tales of his life there, as well as his guidance in Spanish and mathematics, wielded an inspiring and helpful influence on his pupils. He developed in his stu- dents clear thinking and practical ap- plication of their subjects. While at Washington, he served on the Athletic Field Committee and was advisor of the Physics Club and supervisor of orchestra finances. After more than a quarter- century of faithful service to the school, Mr. Hagberg has won best wishes for the continuation of a happy and satisfy- Mr. john Hagberg Miss Meta Raasch Mr. Charles Holbrook MISS META RAASCH Invested with a keen knowledge of the various sections of our country and a rich German heritage, Miss Meta Raasch, a native Milwaukeen, taught commercial geography and Germ Since her entry in 1 various posts: directo infirmary monitors, su at Washington. 25, she served at , of assembly and ervisor of employ- ment placement for gills, and a critic of the sophomore division of the Girls' Club. CHARLES HOLBROOK A lover of the out-of-doors, a true scientist, a master teacher: each of these terms may well be used to describe Mr. Charles Holbrook, who entered Wash- ington in 1921 as a biology teacher. For many years he served as faculty advisor of the Nature Study Club, and later as head of the biology department. By re- lating personal experiences and teaching in a practical manner, he held the interest and enthusiasm of his classes. His stu- dents not only garnered a good under- standing of the various phases of biology, but became his personal friends. Now all XVashingtonians join in wishing Mr. Hol- brook many years of happiness in his retirement.
