Q3Qal'ce2iz'on l When Wisconsin was given her birthright in 1848, the rugged pio- neers had faced hundreds of miles of virgin timber and numberless Indians, but they were never discouraged in their cause. Moving ever forward with each generation, they have Worked: developing our agriculture from small wheat farms to a great dairy land, changing the small blacksmith shops to the powerful machine-driven industries, improving our educational system until, today, Wisconsin stands as a symbol of hard work, careful planning, and the spirit On Wisconsinf, We pioneers of today are up-to-date, well-versed people-following our founders' footsteps, planning and striving to make an even greater agricultural and industrial center, worthy of the name of the Badger State' ,... And so, to these pioneers of the first century we dedicate this Scroll Yearbook of 1948 with the assurance that we pioneers of the second will meet the challenge 'Un XVisconsin!
