f f N rzmg that someone was starrng at me my eyes met the gaze of Dxane Barnes Drane was almosta stranger to me although we had been very close fr1ends during school days We chatted about old txmes Ilearned that Drane ts now a dramatic coach 1n New York By the time I reached New York I was pretty well exhausted but not to the extent that I could not make a trip to Broadway to hear the qumtet of our lugh school days Preston Silvta Irmmy Hayman Franklm Nelson Bill James and Bradley Eby Srnce they were rehearsrng Dry Bones I slipped rn qutetly to hear them How that song brought back memorles of our Iunror Mmstrel! After the boys had frmshed I ran to the stage to greet them Naturally they wanted to hear the news from home and about the1r classmates Afterltold Br1lthatIan1ceCosten whohad gained pronunence in the freld of art sent her love B111 gave me the low down on members of the class who are ln New York the JOIHI law fxrm of Tom Long and Elvtn Gates After talking with Tom for awlule I dxscovered that June Dashxell and Dietlind Frederling were their secretaries We had a wonderful time gabbmg and reluctantly saylng goodbye we started up Flfth Avenue Imagme our surpnse to meet Elma Jones and Mane Gnffrn These gxrls are happtly married and lxvlng in Baltimore but were 1n New York on their annual shopping tour N166 that they can afford such a luxury! Hearing a famxllar voice I turned to see Elizabeth Prnto Smthng happily a character1st1cofEhzabeth she told me that she was on her way back to Princess Anne She had been in New York to see her husband off to Cuba where he is manager of a sugar plantation Srnce Liz s bus was not due to leave for a couple ot hours she asked me to accompany her to the Curus Farrow TV Center to catch Catherine Peterman s Trps to Homemakers show Thxs is where we left the boys Afterawonderful show Cathenne mvrted I,1z and me to Join her in a cup of coffee at a little coffee shop just around the comer Accepting her lnvrtatlon we set out for the shop There we met Ruby Hall Norma Ford and Norma Hall These girls were on the1r way to Radro Clty I leamed that Ruby and Norma Ford are now Soc1al workers and very satisf1ed rn their work. PM ..-..- TEN YEARS HENCE Today I leave my job as secretary to Everett fPetej bong, ownennd manager of the Long Music School to go on a two week s vacation trip contacting former-members of the graduating class of 1952 Before setting out on this tour I did a little shopping I-lurrying down Main Street in Princess Anne I stopped at Rose s Dress Shop formerly Scotia s Ready - To - Wear Rose Bounds the owner is married and tells me that the shop and housework keep her on the go. While in Rose s Imet Peggy Heath and Anna Rankin. Peggy told me that they are now 'operating a book shop in Westover French books being their speciality Having onlya little time left I dashed out of Rose s and on down the street In my hasteldid not notice people so I ended up in a collision with Carolyn Whitney After we regained our composure she told me that she and Sigue Robertson are now registered nurses at the Peninsula General Hospitalin Salisbury Carolyn also said that Nancy Simpkms wasdoing very well managing the Nursery Department of the hospital Bidding Carolyn goodbye I hurried on As I was passing the American Store Market whom should I see but Ed Briddell the current district manager When I hastily told Ed of my plans he invited me into the store where I saw Preston Silvia and Pam Bond shopping for their week s supply of groceries Pam said that she and Preston had been married for seven years and thatPreston works for the Bozman Appliance Store owned by Maurice Bozman Preston is the chief salesman and Pam is bookkeeper for the Princess Anne branch of the business Turning away from Pam and Preston I saw Bob Filmer strollrng in Bob is doing well as owner of the former Princess Anne Pharmacy Politely excuslng myself I hurried toward home to get a good night s sleep for I knew I had a busy two weeks ahead Up early the next morning I went to the Carey 8: Carey Confectionery now run by Sara Brlttingham to grab a light breakfast While eating Howard Briddelle mana ger of the Princess Anne Theater strode in looking very prosperous After a hurried breakfast I left Britts Serve U Shop to get my train. x, -A Once aboard the train I relaxed and did a little daydreaming Suddenly rea R, f 1 . . -- 1- , W 0 I an N if gx,j 'l ,fl l I 1' A' 1

-4 Arr Line Hostess on the Pan Amerlcan Axrways I was very happy to hear th1s knowlng that Babs always wanted to do that kxnd of work Norma Hall had just fuushed her last photo assrgnment at the Charles Howard Photo Studro Catherine sard that she keeps ln touch with Esther l-larrlngton Anxlous to see Esther agaln I suggested a v1s1t Luz had to depart in order to catch her bus so Catherine and I went to the Chemrsts Btulding managed by Mary Lane McNe1l Esther is supervisor of the plant and two of the up and comlng chermsts are Suzanne Meredxth and hors Ann Murray Leavmg Kltty and the others I wandered toward the Forest H1113 I-hgh School to see Dorothea Pxttxnger teachmg one of her Core Classes Sugle took ume out to take me to the Typmg Department where June Jackson was teaclung a class Leavmg June and Susle Icontrnued to the Lrbrary To my surpnse l was greeted by Irene Evans chief hbrarlan and her HSSISIBHI Betty Sturgrs Leavmg the school I returned to my hotel room and to bed where I dreamed of a reunxon of the Class of 52 The next morn ng I caught a plane for Baltlmore I set out on a s1ght seelng tour through It saw Evelyn Stump s name I went to Evelyn s house but the land lady told me that she was at work so I excused myself wrth a thank you Followlng that clue Ifound Evelyn belund a swltchboard as operator and recepnorust fora large manufactunng flrm Evelyn 1nv1ted me to step tnto the lnner offlce Whom should I see sxttrng behind a large desk but Florence Smlth We exchanged only a few words for Ihad to return to the airport to catch the 5 30 plane for Prtncess Anne A l1ttle sad and weary but happy I returned to Prtncess Anne Yes a httle sad to leave my classmates and fnends weary from my wonderful trrp but happy to see them all domg so very well Most of all they were happy and successful Maybe tomorrow when I report to Pete he can conunue plans for a class reunion the first since we left Washrngton l-hgh ll x 'I upon my arrival in Baltimore.
