He holds a B.S. with honors, B.A. with High Distinction and an M.A. Mr. Engel- brccht is presently working toward his P.H.D. MR. RICHARD K. MORSE Mr. Morse teaches English 1-2 and 5-6. She is presently teaching senior English and Advanced junior English. I. Mr. Ronald Murphy is teaching senior English and U.S. Government. He is the sponsor of the senior class. 20 ACADEMICS Mr. Douglas Spencer is the sponsor of the junior class. He is presently teaching junior English. Mr. Dale Thornburg is a sponsor of the freshman class. He teaches freshman English. Besides this, he also does coaching during the football season.

22 ACADEMICS Mr. Verne Cook is the sponsor of the senior class. He teaches speech. He graduated from the University of Arizona and he did his graduate work at Arizona State University. During college he won the University Player Award for the best actor. Mr. Cook has traveled extensively throughout the world. Mrs. Dorothea Benner, who also teaches German, is teaching English 5-6. She is sponsor of the German Club. 115- - Mr. Ronald C.. Murphy, who is teaching U.S. Govern- ment and English 5-6, has spent four years at WHS. He sponsored the Student Council and the senior class. He attended Gorham State College and Arizona State University and gained special honors as the Newman Honor Society and the Who's Who in American Uni- versities and Colleges. English Makes the World More Real Mr. Percy Totheroh teaches average and accelerated sophomore English. He graduated with a M.A. from ASU. During college he was a member of the Debate team and president of Secondary Council and a member of Honor Society. Mrs. Anne Watrous teaches English 1-2, 3-4. She is also the sponsor of the '63 Panorama. This is her first year at Washington High School.
