The Memory Lane Staff for 62,' has tried to create and dedicate this book with a Brand New View. Our Miss Memory Lane will suffice as an example of bringing in the new. Yes, our freshmen have been a new view too. They -have come to W.H.S. for the first time and will share the memories we have. They will also receive many ideas for new traditions and carry on the spirit of Washington that has kept it one of the best. .

Miss Memory Lane Crowned For First A new tradition began at Washing- ton High School with the crowning of Miss Memory Lanen on September 30, 1961. The festivities took place at the yearbook-sponsored dance held in the gymnasium amid pumpkins and corn stalks and other fall decorations. Vicki Skubis and Janice Modory were in charge of arrangements for the dance. Gloria Bie- buyck was in charge of decorations, and the crowns were made by Sandy Sekendy. At 9100 p.m. the court was announc- ed. Each girl wore a white mum corsage and was crowned with a glittering green crown trimmed with white fur. After the introduction of the court, the queen was announced. Jeaneen Hicks became the first Miss Memory Lanef, Jeaneen's first official duty was to select the winner of the free subscription to the Memory Lanef' Then, dancing resumed with the coronation dance led by Miss Memory Lane and her escort.
