Preparation tor the club is secured in the junior and the senior glee clubs. The Choral Club had been in existence before l92U, but its career as an outstanding organization in the school began with the sponsorship ot Mr. White in l92U. The organization under its capable director, Miss Margretha Rasmussen, gives many successful concerts. Among these is the Vesper Service, given each year before the Christ- mas holidays. Two always-to-be-remembered programs in which the Choral group sang were over radio stations W.I.O.B. on the Schools on Parade broadcast: and over W.G.ll. on the Citizens of Tomorrow broadcast which was dedicated to the mid-year graduates ot '45. Washington's well known Choral Club provides enjoyment not only for its members, but also tor all the music-lovers ot the community,

Only those boys and girls displaying outstanding mus- ical talents are chosen. This year the orchestra is composed of fifty-five members. Because of rehearsals during the lunch period two days a week, several junior high school stu- dents of unusual ability were able to augment this organization. The conductor, Mr. Edward C. Tritt, selects music of a high standard for the orchestra to play because he realizes that in this way its members gain a lasting appreciation of fine music. One of the musical masterpieces which was chosen for the orchestra was Shubert's Unfinished Symphony. The orchestra accompanied soloists in Mozart's D-Minor Concerto for Piano and in Mendelssohn's E-Minor Concerto for Violin . Audiences also enjoyed the many selections by American composers. The orchestra, under the competent direction of Mr. Tritt, has appeared for assembly programs, the Christmas vesper service, evening concerts, community affairs, and also per- formed on a radio program. This is the oldest musical organization of Washington High School, and throughout its many performances during the past years, it has maintained an excellent standard. We are proud of the fact that this year's concert orchestra is consid- ered one of the best that our school has ever had. This was clue to the hard work and en- thusiastic co-operation of its conductor and members.
