General mathe- matics gives the student an opportunity to observe the part it plays in our everyday lives. The college preparatory course offers more intensive mathe- matics and pays more attention to the acquisition of skills and techniques. 14

Q HOME ECONOMICS is a subject in which young people are given proper instruction so that they may achieve success in making homes in which they will be happy and make others happy. This is done throught the building of ideals, the teaching of principles, and the developing of ability to apply them. I THE SUCCESSFUL WORKING ot our democracy depends upon the educa- tion of the people. An educated person is one who ,understands and is able to control his surroundings. Today, the people living in our great cities face conditions that can be understood and mastered only through the study of nature at second hand, preferably through the natural science courses in our schools, under experienced teachers.
