Miss Olson heads this de- partment, and Mr. Morris, Mr. Hal- ley, Mr. Jackson, and Mr. Martin complete the staff of instructors.

The language department holds an important place in the school curriculum. Miss Smart and Mrs. Savage teach the only ancient language, Latin. The largest language department, French, is headed by Miss Farsje. Miss Gear and Miss Holliday complete the staff. Taught by Miss Denison and Mrs. Savage, German becomes really interesting. Boys and girls are instructed in the essentials of Spanish by Miss Tupper. Thorough foundations re- ceived in Washburn are appreciated by those who come in contact with foreign languages.
