According to Immy, she was born back in ancient times when babies were still born at home with the help of a midwife. She at- tended elementary school in a little one-room schoolhouse in Taylor County, and graduated from Medford High School as Salutatorian of the class of 1956. She was married in the fall of 1957 to Allen Kalmon, who passed away in November of 1975 with the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Immy is the mother of five: Cathy, Amy, Kelly, Bruce, and Paula. Immy worked at various clerical positions including Women’s Prison at Taycheedah, Wisconsin, the State Employment Office in Milwaukee, and as the high school secretary in Washburn since January of 1974. Her favorite motto is expressed on a bumper sticker on her sta- tion wagon — “Teenagers are people too.” Thank you, Immy Kalmon, for all your help during our past 4 years.
