The bonfire kicked off the Homecoming activities Friday night, Oct. 6. On Home- coming day, a bedraggled but spirited parade slushed down main street of Wash- burn. At the parade's end our class float , was awarded first place - mainly because it was the only one that came through the downpour intact. The football victory saved the day and helped to make the dance, un- der the street lights of Victory Lane, with the music by the Soul Seekers, a success. With the coming of spring we presented our banquet for the Seniors and faculty in accordance with the theme, Evening in Venice. Beautiful decorations made our prom, Athenian Interlude, the big event of the year. Now that the year has ended, we all look most eagerly to next fall when we will begin the ordeal of earning our diplomas. A. Meyer, Vice-President, L. Embertson, Secretary, L. McAllan, President, M. Lindsey, Treasurer. 28

The usual diligent studying, for which our class is noted, was interrupted by plans for the Homecoming activities. Our choice of queen candidate proved a good one, for Chickie Malinoski reigned over the festivities with David Justice as king. On October 27th, the long awaited initiation day came, and the Freshmen were broken in and legally admitted to high school life by the heartless Sophomores. The Thanksgiving dance which we sponsored was the outcome of our very first attempt at decora- ting. Music was by the Soule. The necessity of enlarging our treasury resulted in various projects throughout the year. The selling of booster buttons and Zip Code directories helped somewhat. We are looking forward to our junior year and hope our treasury will be as well prepared for it as we are. CLASS OFFICERS W. Sytsma, V. President, W. Sytsma, Treas- urerg K. Smolen, President, K.
