Class Histor In September of 1946 a very energetic and happy group entered the realm of education. We became members of Mrs. Ahl's kindergarten and spent an enjoyable year building play houses and spilling sand. The first few days were spent trying to calm Barb Milliman's nerves. She did not want to go to school and make lots of friends. She just wanted to go home! The excitement really began in Mrs. Rich's first grade when Dave Shear and Sandy Chase got sent home for talking in class. We can all remember many happily spent hours under Miss Myers and Miss Bartlett in music and art. We cannot forget second grade and the time Sandy Scott had keeping her milk up off the floor. This was also the year of the big contest between Margaret Finch and Bob Firestine to see who could write the smallest so the teacher could not read it. In the third grade Norm Clark joined us from the last year's class, and we all knew that the reason was that Miss Dick could not part with Wabbitt. Rosemary Vasile became one of Miss Stafford's group that same year. Judy Hawkins, George Moffatt, and Einar Gall joined us in the fourth grade. Under .the watchful eyes of Miss Donlon and Miss Capron we studied about Pimwe and his friends. This year marked the beginning of a lengthy romance between George Moffatt and Sandy Chase. A similar situation de- veloped when Carol Wares and Einar Gall kept making eyes at each other. Violence flared when Pat Ackler slapped Norm Burns with a ruler at the request of Miss Donlon. In fifth grade we made exhibits for the county fair. Mrs. Gardner's room made an exhibit on bees, and Mrs. Eck's room made another on sugar pro- duction. The people in Mrs. Gardner's room had a delightful trip into the realm of high school when Mrs. Rice was unable to climb the stairs and she exchanged rooms with them. In seventh grade we learned interesting facts about New York State, including the counties, from Miss Fox. We also were taught the intricacies of English from Mr. Baker. During the summer following seventh grade the town was set on edge when Kay Morgan report- ed having seen a wildcat behind her house. Kay be- came a local heroine with her name in all the papers. During the school year our class gained Linda James, Sharon Sherman and joan Sierk. At the end of the eighth grade we had a successful picnic at the village park. Ninth grade brought the usual group of fresh- men from St. Michael's School. Included in this group were Carol Burns, Penny Powers, Bill Putney, Bob Baker, Don Princs, Diane Vigneri, Peggy Co- veny, Brenda Fitzgerald, Libbie Callahan, Kay Mor- gan, and jane Martin. Our sophomore year featured a sports dance and the initiation of a drive to sell Warsaw buttons. We had numerous baked food sales under the watch- ful eyes of Mr. Becker and Mr. Hackemer. We also had a very successful paper drive during which we were bombarded by tomatoes hurled by upperclass- men. The junior Prom, Oriental Fascination, was the highlight of our junior year. The cafeteria, re- splendent in yellow crepe paper and Chinese lan- terns, provided an Oriental air for the sixty-odd couples who attended. We also served at various dinners throughout the year, including the Teachers' Conference and the Alumni Banquet. The beginning of our senior year witnessed the addition of Pamela McCabe to our class. For the first time in over thirty years out football team had an undefeated season. Senior members of this team included Marvin Taylor, Bob Baker, Roger Burns, Bob Wheeler, Bill Putney and George Moffatt. The senior play, December Bride, was a success with Margaret Finch and George Moffatt in the leading roles, and with Carol XVares and Einar Gall in sup- porting parts. A senior dinner before the Perry basketball game was one of our last money making projects. Now we look forward to the seniqr circus, our Washington trip, the Senior Ball, and that long- awaited event- graduation. The years have zipped by all too rapidly, although at times we longed for snow days and vacations from the burdens of school. However, Warsaw Central has left its mark on us wherever we may beg and we like to think that the class of 1959 has made its impression upon the history of our school.
