Our time was spent playing in the sand, coloring, and sleeping on our little rugs. The memorable event of that year was the time jim Goodenow broke -lack Grover's new plastic car that jack had brought to play with in the sand box. Miss Banks and Miss Hammond, our first grade teachers, had their hands full most of the year. When three girls put crayons up their noses, they were sent to stand in the hall. In second grade, we were divided between Miss Charles and Mrs. Wickens. joan was sent out into the hall several times that year. The big romance of the year was Caroline Corwin and Roger Wilclo. This was also the year that Kermit Winkleback was tied in his seat. ln third grade Mary Montgomery was the one to be sent into the hall. She got the scare of her life when Mr. Ball came by and asked her what she was doing there. Vicki Simmons joined us that year, and Pat Hively and Shirley Miller were accidentally locked in the third grade room by Miss Dick. Don Christ wouldn't come to school for two days because he had lost his books, and no one knows where he did go. because he wasn't at home, either, Susan Stokes came in fourth grade, and she and Barb Ball used to sit in the back row and hold hands. Dick Landcastle, who used to bring Miss Canty butter during the war years, threatened to stop bringing it one day when he was punished for being naughty. Fifth grade was the year of the big romances. David Herman and Ellen Bouten were the cutest couple of the year, and Marcia 'Sheehe, Susan Stokes, and Dick Nash made the best triangle. Love notes floated through the room until Miss Schlegel read them aloud one day. The whole class took a trip to Frank Smith's farm. Mary Abel and Della Hurlburt joined us in sixth grade. Della was the big thing with the boys that year and after several courtships went with David Herman most 'of the time. The big romance in seyenth grade was Mary Abel and Paul lick, Frank Lamatina hid Frank Smith's books in the wastebasket and made Miss Fox furious. ln eighth grade we put on a play Rip Van Winklef' with Keith as Rip. What really stole the show, though, was Charlie Mar- tin's dog. Barb Crist got up too early one morning and ran into a tree. Mrs. Van Order told us many intriguing stories. Bobbie Harvey left us that year. Some of us started taking dancing lessons from Frank Sardinia. We started out as Freshmen with Betty Maha as our president. We didn't do much as a class that year, but some of our class had the distinction of going to the junior Prom their first year in high school. As Sophomores, with Keith as our president, we held a round and square dance. The orchestra was Lou and his Drifting Cowboys, and we actually made about 520. Marcia Sheehe was our president in our iunior year. The big proyect oi the year was the junior Prom, the theme being Moulin ROUJLCQH Art Dedrick and his orchestra supplied the music. Six iuniors went to the Herald Tribune Forum in New York and had a wonder- lul time. We also voted to go on a senior trip. ln the early part of the year, we decided to go to Washington on our trip. and with Keith as president we started proiecrs to raise money right away, The magazine sale was a success, and we also held several baked food sales and a Christmas dance. We worked hard on the Senior Play, and it was enjoyed by all, We will always remember the Ball and Commencement. as we face the future with eagerness and confidence. 20 7955 ,mivms YoUNG I muff! mi' .FUl7IL'li7i7Ig, bn! UWM In September, at the first meeting, ten new BLAST members were chosen. The BLAST initiation dinner was held on No- vember 2. The new members were very good sports, and the evening was enjoyed by all. We sold magazines in conjunction with the seniors and received one-third of the total made on the sales. The members of the BLAST Staff sin- cerely hope that you will enjoy this issue BLAST EXECUTIVE COMMITIEE Of the BLAST- standing, L. to R.-s, Miner, set., J. Cofield, Editor, M. Officaw In ,its fifth year of existence the Student Council has directed the extra-curricular activities, advising and accepting new and revised charters of all organi- zations in the school and scheduling dates for their various projects. They have increased school spirit by having more school assemblies and running more busses to the out-of-town games. This has all been done through the capable efforts of Mrs. Seibold, our adviser, and David Herman, our president. Standing-G. Ahner, D. Herman. Seated--M. Willse, Mrs Seibold, M.
