Luckily Cannes was one of the last ports on the schedule for the Warrington, for some of the excitement helped counter-act the Land of the Bikinis. The French Riviera extends down from Toulon and Menton on the Italian coast, including Monte Carlo, Nice, Golfe Juan, Cannes and J uan-Les- Pins. The beaches were beautiful naturally, strolling down La Croisette promenade by the luxurious hotels, Majestic, Grand, and Carlton, and maybe stopping in for a little beer or cognac seemed like paradise. Some of the capitalists spent their time in Nice, which was only an hour's drive up the coast. At long last, the editor found his golfing paradise, but even out there it was hard to keep one's eye on the ball.
