Quite a few souvenirs were purchased here such as paintingS, Barra Gloves, Barsolino Hats, accordians and what not. Night life in Napoli certainly was nOI dull, not with the famous Snake Pit, The Trocodero, Orange Grove and lovelY Ex' celsior Hotel. A very select few seemed to have Wen' dered off to Rome and Capri for a day While the editor was wandering around looklflgnfor Cameo Factories and golf courses. No longer can this phrase hold true. One is lost for words when going below by the many gauges and valves of black and white that stand out. Never before has asys- tem of propulsion been used with such economy of fuel and space. The system of lines is an accomplished dream. What stands behind this are the men ofthe Engineering Department, headed today by LTJG TABORSKY, Engineering Officer. The department moves witha sound organization. Assistance from a Main Propulsion Officer, Damage, Control Officer, and Electrical Officer comes through their over-all super- vision of their own divisions: the Nl and B , the A and R and E respectively. M and B have in their spaces all boilers, engines, gears and generators. lt holds responsibility for all systems of steam, fuel, lube oil, feed water, drainage and ballast. A and R on its side has charge of all auxiliary equipment and the hull of this ' ' ' h t are ship. This includes all systems ta necessary for controlling fires or underwater d a e. And E , the electrical gang, con- am g trols interior communications and the ships electrical equipment. Each gang is entirely separate from the other. As a whole though, the Engineering Del artment is classified as strickly the E P L . Gang. They work as a team. A Day in Rome From what our friends say, Rome actually is the Eternal City. l understand they had quite a time seeing Rome in twelve hours.
