The program. emphasizing .1 completely new teaching technique. is sponsored hy the engineering and mathematics departments of the l'ni- xersity of Illinois. and is financed hy the Carnegie Foundation. Dr Max Berherman serves as director. Nationwide attentzon has focused on these matliennatzts classes of which there are two at XX'arren. hoth composed of freshman students One group acts as an experimental unit: the other. a control class.
