Basketball practice in Warren High opened o-n November 14, with ten veterans, six of them lettermen-, reporting to Coach Lysaker. With only three lettermen lost through graduation. prospects for a successful season 'Were very bright. The Ponies looked promising in their impressive victory over Hallock in the season's opener. The Ponies held Hallock to a lone field goal throughout the entire game while presenting a, fast breaking offense themselves. From here the Ponies went on to defeat every team in the Big Four in the conference at least once. The outstanding pre-Christmas game Was the Warren-East Grand Forks contest. In this game the Ponies hit their stride, presenting an air tight defense and a tricky, efficient offense that baffled the East Siders and led to an easy victory for Warren. After their holiday trip the team came back to defeat Thief River Falls 33 to 24. Against Crookston the Ponies again looked good, and the Pirates fell hard before a fast driving offense. The closing game of the season found Warren nosing out the Pirates 24 to 22 and gaining first place in the conference standings with five victories and one defeat. Out of a total of 25 games played Warren won 22 and was defeat- ed only 3 times. They had a total of 826 points to their opponents 583 and averaged 33 points per game while holding the opposition to 23. Ten menon the squad received letters.: Captain Hanson, Gilbert- son, Allen, Rogers, Fulks, Ranstrlom, Nicholls, Lindberg, Culver and Znerold.
