Future Farmers oi America The Warren Future Farmers of America Chapter received its charter in 1938, and Mr. F. W. Forbes has been the adviser since that time. The FFA is a natibonal organization with 250,000 active members located in 48 states and outlying possessions. ' The officers for 1941-42 are: President, Dale Peterson, Vice President, Aldon Larsong Treasurer, Jack Sorensong Secretary, Kermit Olsong Reporter, Hubert Anderson, Watchdog, Charles Cheney, and Adviser, F. W. Forbes. 1 The organization is made- up of boys taking vocational agri- culture. Its purpose is to develop better farmers through creating an interest in agriculture, education, and recreational activities. This year the chapter has an enrollment of 32 active mem- bers, 6 associate members, and 17 honorary members. The present advisory committee includes: Supt. E. M. Weltzin, Lee Munger, Carl E. Anderson, Gill Lamberson, Walter Johnson, Walter Holbrook, and F. W. Forbes. The State Convention is the highlight of the year. Other activities include: FFA plays, Basketball, Public Speaking, Judging, Father and Sons Banquet, Camping, and a 1000-mile trip to Duluth and Fort William, Canada. The FFA is taking an active part in the Victory Program by stressing gardening, sale of scrap metal, etc., buying bonds Savings Stamps. uLease on Liberty THE SENIOR CLASS PLAY . The class of '42 presented on May 8-9 a modern, patriotic comedy- drama in three acts entitled Lease on Liberty. Jean Morkassel played the part of Mrs. Bronson Pefniield, the indomitable grandmother who is seventy-eight, but iilled with the spirit of '76. Matthew Powell, portrayed by Dana Allen-, is a Crusader for World Peace, much to the disgust of Mrs. Penfield, his mother-in-law with whom he and his family live. She is equally displeased with Mrs. Powell, a helpless, fluttering wom-an Who doesn't know or care about world aifairs. Dorothy Taus took this role. Henry Hanson as Matt Rowell, Jr., is a carefree young playboy Whose love for his grandmother's companion, Fay Latimer, played by Lois Nelson, changes him into a conscientious leader for freedom. Jinx Powell, bad luck but adorable, portrayed by Margaret' Strunk, and Ted, Dale Peterson, her brother, who inherits his grandmothers spirit, freedom conspirators, also aid in reforming Matt, their older brother. Matt in turn influences his father to go all out for liberty. Other characters include Edith Eide as Magnolia, the colored maid g Robert Johnson in- the part of Paul Butler, a Communist posing as a peace leader, Rosalie Thayer, played by Iola Johnson, as hi-s fiancee, Mischa, portrayed by John Morkassel, a Russian eager to gain American citizenship, Earl Taus as Pickering, a critical columnist, Rae Eugen, who takes the part of Betty Lou, the girl whom Ted admires, Miss Jennings, played by Joyce Golden, an applicant for the job as Mrs. Pen1ield's companion. P Also in the cast are Amy Haugen and Eileen Oberg as reporters, Arnold Melin, the announcer, William Rogers, radio technician, and Fern Skunes, the nurse.
