The Future Farmerw of Amerzca OFFICERS President Charles Dalzell Vice Presldent Charles Axken Secretary Donald H111 Treasurer Edward Jennxson Reporter Levl Chzckermg Sentinel Wxllxam Kopacz The Hooper Chapter of the F F A m Walpole I-hgh School began the act1v1t1es of the current school year by partxczpatmg with V11as in the Cheshire County Faxr The boys took ln over S115 00 ln premmms at the faxr In September the annual School Fan- was sponsored by the Agrzculture boys and the Home Economics gxrls The Sweepstake Awards were won by Ixay Whitman and B111 Houghton Throughout the year the Future Farmers have been very active They have oper ated the school orchard and the greenhouse as self supporting projects The boys have taken part ln the state farm safety program the judging contest the program of work con test and the leadership programs just to mentxon a few The chapter s program of work was rated fzrst ln the state and among the top forty 1n the country Seven F F A boys went to the National Conventxon at Kansas Clty Mlssourl Two of these boys Lawrence Newell and Robery Lzcence were awarded free trlps to play in the National F F A Band as New Hampshire delegates The Judging teams at the state judgmg contest placed first m Dairy work and second ln Poultry Some of the awards won by the F F A boys during the year were the fo'low1ng The Farm Safety Award of S 100 00 won by Wesley Staples Lee Lund a 1950 graduate was made a State Farmer Wxlham Houghton was awarded a free trip to Harrxsburg Pennsylvama as a member of the New Hampshlre Egg Grading Team The Glee Club This year the Glee Club is partlcxpatmg m many events Under the leadership of Mrs Tole the group presented the Natlvlty for a Chrxstmas program ln December In March the Glee Club has plans for a program to be gxven for the P T A On May twelfth Walpole w11l play host to the annual Muslc Festwal thzs year The Glee Club of Walpole wxll partlclpate xn a mass chorus, composed of groups from Vilas, Charlestown, Winchester, and Hmsdale As another projected plan for the future, the Glee Club would lxke to present a Mm strel Show m the sprang '47 .
