THE FRESHMAN CLASS lcon t J The class has had a quiet year as far as activities are concerned This class also has provided some good material for basketball with Arthur Hill play mg on the Varsity and Louis Thompson Thomas Russell Peter McKenzie Alan Faxon Robert Rogers Harry Westcott playing on the Junior Varsity For the girls Nancy Perham plays on the girls Junior Varsity team The Ezgh th Grade OFFICERS President Kendall Menard Vice President Margo Allbee Secretary John Burrows Treasurer June Phelps Class Reporter Dona Fries Student Council Representatives Kendall Menard and Rgnald Kopacz, Class Colors Red and White Advisor Miss Frances V Weeks The eighth grade began its year by tying for first place with the seventh grade for the best float in the school fair parade The theme was Prospect Hill or Bust complete with covered wagon setting and riders on horseback Their next event was the annual initiation party for the seventh grade October seventh Social games were played and refreshments were served The following boys are members of the Junior Hxgh basketball team Kendall Menard Steven Gates Donald Sutton Willxam Murray Har old Daniels Wayne Bryant Ronald Kopacz John Burrows and Paul Narkiewicz captains of this group is June Phelps The Junior High cheerleading squad is composed of five eighth grade girls this year They are Victoria Wallis Patricia Chickermg Kay Rogers Joan Bemis and Jane Jennison The class held a Valentine Party Friday February sixteenth for the seventh and eighth grades combined with fun and laughs for everyone under the supervision of the respective class advisors The Seventh Grade OFFICERS President Robert Galloway Vice President Austin Pickering Secretary Theodore Gray Treasurer Irene Thompson Student Council Representatives Robert Galloway and Ernest Lund Class Reporter Joan Bugbee C1655 C010rS Blue and White Advisor Mr William Lord The usual seventh grade initiation was held at the Hooper Building on October twenty seventh The eighth grade put the initiation on for the seventh and everyone had an exciting and enjoyable time In return for this glorious time the seventh grade sponsored a Christmas Party on December nineteenth for the eighth grade QCont1nued on page 36 34 All eighth grade girls are members of the Junior High basketball team. THE SEVENTH GRADE lcon t Q The Life You Save May Be Your Own an ongmal float entered mn the annual school fair won fxrst prize for them This float depicted the carelessness of many drx vers by means of a wrecked car complete wxth mjured vxctxms Out of a class of twenty two Robert Smead and Donald Kemp bemg new this year almost all are actwe xn basketball At the Vxlas game every seventh grade glrl part: cxpated Mary Hewitt IS manager and Shirley H111 IS co captam On the boys team are George Thayer Donald Kemp Robert Galloway Theodore Gray Austin Plckermg and John Hurd Fxve seventh grade boys George Thayer Raymond Blood Robert Galloway Austm Pickering and Paul Dutrlsac represented their class on the football squad The Future Homemakers of Amerlca OFFICERS Presxdent Ann Rogers Vice President Carole Graves Secretary Treasurer Reporter Kathryn Whitman Advtsor Miss Jane D Mllls The F I-I A has twenty one members thxs year from the Freshman Sophomore and Junior classes Social meetmgs have been llmxted thls year but the orgamzatlon has been fortunate ln holdxng a business meeting each Friday the sxxth period At the school fair the F H A glrls had thezr usual booth which conslsted of a fzsh pond for the youngsters and the selling of chances on a prize cake The g1rls united efforts with the F F A xn sponsoring a food sale in the cafeteria, during the falr The glrls dad the soliciting and sold the food while the boys dld the collectxng of food and assisted them whenever possible The two clubs dxvlded the proceeds Fair Committees Community Exhibit Ann Rogers Margaret Reed and Elxsse Nash Clothing Elxsse Nash and Gmger Kopacz Foods Jane Howard and Mary Lou Gates Canning Kathryn Whitman and Bermce Cobb On October Z7 1950 the following gurls were delegated to go to Goffstown to the fall meetmg of the state F H A Joan Kopacz Ehsse Nash Ann Rogers and Jane Howard Ehsse Jane and Joan were asked to model garments they had made ln home economics class The Walpole group enjoyed the excellent debate on the subjects of Boy and Glrl Re lationships which was part of the program of the mterestxng meeting The gxrls prepared and served the annual banquet for the F F A boys again this year Miss Mills was their supervisor for this affair Ann Rogers was ln charge of the d1mng room Kathryn Whitman m charge of centerpleces Elxsse Nash m charge of the chicken ples and Ethel Hurd in charge of the kitchen The F F A had entertained the girls at a pxcmc previous to the txme of the banquet on Carpenter s hxll Everyone enjoyed this affaxr This year the F H A girls alternated with the Senior class in selhng candy and soda at the home basketball games Elxsse Nash dld a fine job as chaxrman of thls extra project The honorary position of Chapter Mother thxs year goes to Mrs Rolland Jameson who IS also the mother of an F H A member Ruth Jameson The official Home Economics Banner wooden gavel and jewelry with the F H A emblem are bemg purchased by the glrls They also hope to buy the officxal F H A jackets There 15 the possibility that the state wade spring meetmg of the Future Homemak ers of America will be held at Walpole High School this year lf so the Walpole gzrls w1ll be entertammg many fellow F H A members for the day Thxs meeting would give the girls special attention as a group of lnterested lively Future Homemakers of Amerlca members 36 O . no 11 -- - 1 . . . . . . , . . . . 1 . , . . .
