THE SENIOR CLASS fcon t 3 At Chrxstmas time the Semors sold Chrxstmas cards and wrappmgs to razse more money for the class trxp The sale of sweatshirts and scarfs the same type as were sold last year has been carrxed on agaln this year wxth good results During some of the bas ketball games the Semors have sold candy bars and soda Thus has made a bag hxt with everyone The class sponsored a candy sale the Wednesday before Thanksgnvxng and a food sale this past January These affanrs have certainly helped the class to reach xts fman clal goal for the class trip The Seniors are all very appreclatwe of the sound backmg of the townspeople ln all these ventures ln November the class signed with the Arnold Tours of Boston Massachusetts to go to Washington on the class trxp wlth Mr and Mrs Victor N Sanborn as chaperones The trip will be made ln April the week before spring vacatlon The Vantine Studio ln Boston has taken the pictures for the yearbook and the class voted to have the book printed by the Walsworth Brothers ln Marcelme Missouri This write up would not be complete without thanking both the class sponsor Mr Sanborn and assxstant sponsor Mrs Galloway for their sound advice and efforts through out this last year and also Miss Brennan for her excellent guidance m producing thxs yearbook The Jumor Class OFFICERS Presxdent Donald H111 Vice President Ann Rogers Secretary Barbara Licence Student Councxl Representatives Donald H111 and Mary Aylward Reporter Robert Llcence Advisor Mr Edward McCool Class Colors Green and White Class Flower White Carnatlon The Junior Class which ns comprzsed of nineteen members arranged for the school fair a booth where the group sold popcorn and offered as a prize a box of groceries for the contestant who guessed the correct number of beans xn a Jar Throughout the year the Juniors have sold beanies and caps in order to make money for the class This project has netted the group a fair profit The Jumor Class ordered their class rings from the Balfour Company and recewed them on December twenty second 1950 Robert Licence as a member of the F F A group went to the National Convention in Kansas City on October fifth On the boys basketball team there are the followmg Juniors Donald Houghton Gilbert Chandler and Richard Murray The girls have the followmg members on the Var sity team Hazel Braxnard Margaret Reed and Ethel Hurd Juniors on the girls Jumor Varsity basketball team are Barbara Licence and Betty Cowgill The Boys Jumor Var sity Basketball team has Robert Houghton from the Junior Class The class is planning a Talent Show to be held durxng the frrst part of March Thx will be open to interested students in the high school and Jumor high Another future pro ject the annual Junior Prom to be held during the month of May w1l1 be one of the high lights of the year for all students 32 O . . , . . . . .I . , D . . . . THE STUDENT COUNCIL fcon t I Sponsoring a school newspaper bearing the appropriate tttle of The Chucks Chirp has been both work and fun for the council and members of the student body Student management has written corrected and produced thus publtcatnon at faxrly regular two week intervals The Chicks Chxrp staff includes the following Editor in Chief John Crehore Gossip Editor Mary Aylward, Sports Editor Dana O Nenll Art Editor Sara Perham and Literary Editor Bruce Martin At present the Student Council is trying to raise enough money to send two Walpole delegates to the Natxonal Student Council Convention to be held tn June at Wellesley College The Semor Class OFFICERS President John Crehore Vxce Presxdent Dana O Neill Secretary Janet Whitman Treasurer Phyllis Yamzyn Student Council Representatives John Crehore and Dana O Neill This has been a very busy memorable year for all Seniors The class wants to thank everyone who has helped the group to obtain tts goal Washington In the school fair the Seniors entered a float with the theme OUR GOAL WASHINGTON There were many happy Seniors at the announcement that the class had won third prize For the room decoration contest the Seniors very proudly displayed thetr colors purple and whtte plus the fxrst pnze award' In the cafeteria the Semor fair booth of fered a hot dog cold soda and ice cream sale The Senior class has had a marvelous representation in the activities around school On the boys Varsity basketball team are Seniors Tom Kmtry and B111 Houghton Dana O Netll ts manager whxle Jack Crehore is scorer for the team On the girls Varsity basketball team the class had Janet Whitman and Deborah Bartlett co captatns Barbara O Brien Eleanor Jennxson Jeanne St Peters and Phyllis Yamzyn the faxthful manager On the Jun or Varsity team IS Murxel Brxtton Among the cheerleaders the Semors have Patncta Morrissey and Laura Thayer yelling lustxly for Walpole In the Future Farmers of America Organization the class has B111 Fletcher Tom Kinnry and Wesley Staples At one of the important fund raxsmg acttvxtxes started last year to swell the class treasury the Seniors had the pleasure of servmg sandwtches ice cream coffee dough nuts cakes candy and soda at the John Deere Day The class extends thanks for thts opportumty to Mr R N Johnson Toward the begxnmng of this year the class sponsored several informal dances for the students The most successful of these was the Sadie Hawkins Day Dance which arranged for the gxrls to be the gentlemen for the evening' On October nineteenth and November fourteenth the Semors sponsored two card parttes an the Town Hall Every member of the class contributed somethxng to the re freshments making the proceeds clear profxt for the class continued on next page 31 . , . . u -. - .
