This year's Varsity season was highly successful, finishing in a tie for second in the tough South section. Their overall record was ll-7. Carl Rankin, one of Ridge's best pitchers, was named to the All-City team. Sophomore Ron Marshall placed second in the league's tight batting race, and earned Honorable Mention in the All-City team. Also named Honorable Mention were Kurt Koblens lfirst basel and Mark McEvoy lleft fieldj. The Scots fell to Croveport 5-2 in their bid for a District Title in an extra inning. Spirit prevailed over the Walnut Ridge track team this year despite a tough season marred by injuries. The Scots made good showings at many events, including the Whitehall, Gahanna, and Walnut Ridge lnvitationals. The team was also victorious over East High, a first in the history of Ridge track. ln relays records were set in the 440 relay, and the 4 mile relay. The mile relay also placed sixth in the City meet. Field events were headed by Captain Ron Gorman at high jump and long jump, and Bill Kautz and Terry Colburn at the shot and discus. Individual honors were given to Ron Gorman, who set a new school record in high jump, and Matt Guttman, who took the City Reserve in shot and discus.
