This year for the Girls' Gymnastics Team has proved quite successful. After participating in three meets, two of which were sponsored at WR, they beat Whitehall and lost to Bexley and Hamilton Township Under the direction of Mrs. Cheryl Fey, Head Coach, and Mrs Marianne Schwartz, Asst. Coach, the girls also did well in District Competition. Competition is based on four things: floor exercises done to music, the balance beam, vaulting, and the un- even parallel bars. This year's Boys' Gymnastic team competed in three meets. Their opponents were Martin's Ferry fawayi, and Worthington Qaway, and at Martin's Ferryj. This year's basketball team pulled in their third straight District championship, as well as beating the second rated team in the state, South. For the second year in a row, Walnut Ridge has put a player on the first string, all state team. Aside from this honor, Dave Hanners also made first string city along with Tim Capehart. Through- out the entire season, the Scots played their game with all the natural and hard earned skill so com- mon in recent Walnut Ridge basketball teams. Ex- cellent coaching and rebounding skills of Chuck Goodyear and Brett Little saved many tight scoring games.
