The 1971-1972 Walnut Ridge Student Council was advised by Mrs. Genevieve Henning. The structure of the Council was changed this year by the Cabinet officers. Instead of homeroom representatives each class had a proportionate number of representatives elected by the class. The size of the Council was cut in half k in order to function better. The meetings were held in the library from 12:20-1:20. The main fundraiser of the Council this year was the Scots Are Back buttons. They were proudly flashed at many Walnut Ridge games. The main event Council sponsored this year l was Homecoming Activities. These included Top Ten Assembly, the Ceremonies on the field the night of the crowning, and the Homecoming dance. The dance was one of the best Walnut Ridge has ever had! Throughout the year Student Council worked on projects dealing with curriculum changes, dress code changes, the traffic problem, and a smoking lounge. The Council was not successful in all of their attempts though because of the apathy. forty-one
