The students of Walnut Hills extend our heartiest welcome to Mr. Shepherd. We hope that he has many happy years with us. We are sure that he will manage quite well . . . after all. his favorite snack now is White Castles and from that he can only improve! MI. Shepherd had no problem fitting in with the life at W.H. He quickly learned to be ready for all occasions sim- ply by stocking his closet with all the necessities for an easy change of clothes. Unfortunately, Mr. Shepherd soon encountered the dangers of being Walnut Hills' leader. At least irate mothers will keep his legs in good shape! Finally, Mr. Shepherd decided that perhaps by disquising himself by hanging out in the front hall in typical W.H. garb, he could escape angry hatchets of dissatisfied parents.

Walnut Hills acquired a new leader this year. Mr. David Shepherd now holds the sacred key to the dome high on the hill. We will all miss the inspirations of Brother Brokamp. but, don't despair. because he didn't go far away. In fact, he still keeps an eye on W.H. from his downtown office . A Mr. Shepherd learned the hard way that our man. Milt, manages to catch everyone. Mr. Shepherd has striven to make friends with everyone in the school and he's done a good job. Just think, he's made the morning announcements half-way entertaining, a task which noted W.H. critics had given up as impossible. MI. Shepherd has even tried to make the most stone-faced of us smile. He also tried to make the statue smile. He . had luck with the statue .
