In one room, crafts were sold which had been made by students. Among the numerous presentations were two performances of the SCARLET LETTER, folk and square and several art exhibits. 4 One of the more popular events was the scrimmage between the It's Academic team and a team of parents. In its come-from-behind tradition , the student team subdued the parents in three consecutive matches. 353555 85 W ', fo M! f 4 4 1 Mg! 4 Q. was Stamp and Coin Club Varsity Football Drill Team 26 Kitchen Klassics Beginning Drafting Construction It s Academic Mr Allender Student Body Secretaries 25 KOTJ 087512 Blair Food Mkt Mr Jones PAC Arson Club Firemen REM Rained Out Chatterbox Homework Hughes Wrthrow ' -------- 2 ' -------------- 570 ' . ----------- 254 -------------- ' ' .....--...... 3 ' ' .........-... 90 , ---------- 252. 0 hr. - ...-..---- ae- -36 . ..-.----- ----------------------- o ---------------- 4 '1 wow Computer ----------------- 25 ? Jefferson returned to Walnut Hills after a 200 year absence , during which time he served as ambassador to The Great Beyond , which Scatterbrain researchers found to be a principality of Russia, northwest of Siberia . The stylishly clad former diplomat, who remains slim and trim despite his age of 223, arrived at nine thirty sharp yesterday morning with a special police escort HID for a bit of tobacco. H commented on that curious S retrieve him . uring th is time , Scatter- Athletic Financial Reassessment Due In accordance with rejuve- nated academic interests, the Walnut Hills Athletic Depart- ment will announce , in a brief press conference today, its intentions to reappropriate funds to sports teams. Whereas presently the foot- ball squads command nearly half of all athletic spendi- tures, the new system provides for these moneys to be spent on a newly instituted compe- tition bridge team. In addi- tion, Stamp and Coin Club will achieve varsity status and will consume nearly 152 out of each sports dollar. Of course traditional favor- ites, such as Art Team and Chess Team will receive no cuts in budget, but less suc- cessful basketball, football, soccer, and baseball programs will see vast reductions. The change, S-Brain was told, was precipitated due to a battle, restoring things to their proper balance . A high ranking official commented, We need a fresh spirit in this school, and we hope that this decision to reshuffle spending procedures will catalyse positive devel- opment on the part of the intellectually slumping stu- dent body. New Courses Af WH Walnut Hills will be adding two new College-Preparatory courses for the '76-'77 school year. They are Health AP and Styles and Techniques of Cheating AP. Both courses will prepare the student for maximum survival in college . Health AP, a two semester course worth 7-3X8 credits, will consist of an intensified 'H al .: -. n . was to meet Mr Brokamp f whom Jefferson later said If he jabs me with that stupid button one more time I ll have him arrested for assault! Next Mr Jefferson attended classes with his Scat- terbrain guide who told us that he found them intellectu- ally stimulating and highly imaginative He told us that Mr Jefferson likes them too. Suddenly it was one fifteen and Mr. Jefferson was awak- ened for lunch which was to be eaten in the cafeteria After being escorted kicking lunchroom Jefferson repasted from the tasty smorgasbord of institutional fare In praising the staff s efforts he said . fit for dogs . much . . students . As Immanuel Kant profes- sor in the Philosophy Depart- ment and major proponent of this legislation explained It became a question of who was to conquer- the bodies or the minds I am delighted to report that the minds won this Student Senolie Dissolved Student Senate was report- edly dissolved into nothingness Friday on account of fatal acid leakage from the chemistry room above The accident occurred during another one of Senate s many heated debates over pressing constitutional issues Apparently a group of enter- prising junior high chemists were involved in intense labo- ratory work when a five gallon tub of hydrochloric acid burned through they classroom floor and through the ceiling of the room below. lj What do you as a student think of those tiny holes in the ceiling? 25 It is your education that is at stake Do you like the col ors of the new building? 35 What do you think of chi huahuas'P 43 Do you think Drill Team lS sexy? We were experimenting with the solutions on hand one of the chemists told us when we noticed that the acid level was rapidly decreasing By that time it ate the room below We heard the screams and we knew it was too late They speculated that the acid of an approximated concentration of pH 5 immediately engulfed the congressional assembly caus- ing rapid disintegration among the hysterical participants. In total the classroom itself sustained minimal damage but the loss in terms of human lar. After receiving commen- dations for their fine work the chemists agreed to pay for any harm that they had caused. Krammit S Kandids Today s editorial is on the controversial subject of the existence of a smoking lounge at Walnut Hills However in order to please both factions of this heatedly debated issue I will present both sides of the argument Firstly meaningful student- faculty relationships can spring from the simple sharing experience of a cigarette. Imagine the fun of watching a teacher try to bum a cigarette from a student! Additionally the lounge should not be lim- ited to only seniors. We are all over eleven, and my Uncle Norton has been smoking since he was ten. ,Once Uncle Norton spilled a vat of steaming hot applebut- ter right in Aunt Bessie s lap. Boy did she holler! That was the same day Cousin Wilbur got licked in the outhouse Boy did he holler! Uncle Norton was a good soul and he was smoking since the age of ten And no one can say he died of cancer especially the driver of the truck that hit him. And Uncle Norton has been smoking since the age of ten! Finally, instead of hav- ing smokers scattered all over the school area by centraliz- ing them in one smoking lounge, these foolish law- breakers can be apprehended and brought to justice much more readily individual s physical well being and the socially com- plex world in which he exists It will also cover specific topics such as the psychologi- cal effects on students from eating in the school lunch- room and philosophizing with the librarians. Prerequisites will be Health I and II Styles and Techniques of Cheating AP a quarter course worth 2 credits will feature an in-depth study of the evo- lution of cheating complete with physical proficiency in mobilization of arms hands Experts on cheating will be welcome to the class to dem- onstrate any new and success- ful ideas Prerequisites will be Study Skills and Teacher Approval. Another In A Series Of Hard Hitting Editorials Now for the opposing view. There are many valid argu- ments two of which represent the most important underlying reasons First and foremost is the problem of funny ciga- rettes being introduced into the smoking lounge. This ref- ers to gag items such as squirt- ing cigars exploding ciga- rettes etc Second, bathroom attend- ance would come to screeching halt if a legalized smoking lounge were to be provided. Therefore, one can see that this heatedly debated issue is truly a controversy . . . 4 U . ' , 0 as, vu u , lv , ' ' 11 , 6 , .vv - I ' s ' 9 ' 1 9 H , . 1 - n , . I IZWLMJLCUWJ 151315 15175 Qlwugiulm M351 15175 Cqwffw ' Gm Qwtgtll Just last week, Walnut Hills experi- enced the untimely mental destruction of a long-revered administrator. Our beloved assistant, Milton McCracken, better known as Uncle Milt , finally shrugged off the heavy burden of sanity and joined the ranks of the mentally afflicted. It was not entirely a shock to the Walnut Hills staff and student body. Little innuendos of the inevitable col- lapse seeped out gradually from within the small, secluded office which we all once knew as Milt's Place. The first sign of mental imbalance came early in the year. One student who The Tragic Mental Colla wishes to remain anonymous told us, I saw him CMcCrackenJ picking dan- delions and distributing them to appre- hensive students. Mrs. Glass, his personal secretary, said that she once caught him counting his toes and sing- ing 'Where Have All The Flowers Gone' at the same time. I laughed to hide my discomfort, explained Mrs. Glass, but I cried myself to sleep that night as I pondered the grave implications that accompanied that awful scene. Then came the sporadic announcements over the P.A.: This is the voice of the Lord, shouted the bedazed McCracken. Administrato I talked to Mr. McCracken just before his collapse. I don't see people don't like me, he sobbed, ' try to be nice to everyone. Pause - Get off, get off, shrieked shooing away an insect of some kind. Pressure sure, too much pressure, pres . . . . . p . . ., his voice trailed into an indeterminable muttering. As reached to gently pat his back, jumped back wildly, yelling, Don touch me , don't touch me! That was the last time I saw while he had yet not crossed that thin erasable line that separates sanity ops His Cork f Milton McCracken insanity. I was there when it hap- pened, says Ira Cohen, yearbook editor. I was outside his office in the main hall, and I heard this terrific yell that shook the doors of the adjoining offices. As I peered through the win- dowed door to see what was going on, continues Cohen, the door burst vio- lently open as a huge mass stormed by me, letting out a deafening shrill as it plummeted down the hall, knocking over students and extirpating water fountains from the surrounding walls. He's finally popped his cork, cried Mrs. Glass, the screw has finally come loose! Remembrance: photographers, real- izing the once-in-a-lifetime happen- ing they were witnessing, quickly responded to the bizarre situation. The following photographs, as humorous as they may seem, depict the tragic out- break of a once normal human being who , under the tensions of administra- tive pressures, finally cracked up. He was a fine principal. He was a good man. But above all, he represented the stability and unflappability of our pub- lic school system . We will all remember him as a father. D . Isn't your Q5,,,M,.ql,,,, fmt, ZW. Sfmt Hiwrwuiwlfrgfib can Cfwggrilg inn fgfgg CO heritage worth it? E 45 'E I'm glad it's over. I suppose I should ask you why. Because now I finally get a little bit of choice. Don't you agree? I agree but you talk as though you've been in prison for the past six years! I feel like it. Every step I've taken so far has been directed, and now I'm ready to make some decisions for myself. You don't think you've benefited from this guidance? Isn't that its purpose? Then I assume that you don't regret spending the greater part of the last six years of your life in school. Do I have a choice? My only alternative is . . . 212 . . . to feel that it's been a waste of time. So that's a good enough reason for you? That's not the only reason, though. It's been worthwhile because it hasn't been just an empty progression from one grade to the next. Meaning . . Meaning simply that there has been a substance to these years. l'l'l'1 not about to discount the fact that I have learned. Okay, so you've learned. But what? Something that you can hold in your hand , that won't slip through your fingers once you've left? You don't understand. It's not a question of how much information we retain, but that through the process of learning, we in turn sharpen our sensitivities, and broaden our scope. It's not WHAT we have learned, but THAT we have learned. wx:seenfxzw.avsf41ff5:5sstfQF55iS:5i3sx Q? .'1, r' , ,K , X-RIKYEINQIIN S, 110 MW, 901009 Jw gg 1070 Qgwvaaumzffwa 'SQQAQBM bm, gg We AmmwmpmmwmabwgwgmwWMWWJMWQ,40 mg mapwmwdwfmmymwmbmmfmwwmmx 93 M LM Mmm, .M r,UWmMQg4wmm,5, pQ1mT3mVvwbb0uj, 300 www, WLM, M pw 50110 big bww Emmrwwggw, .wbWmQ,800 .MSD-03 ww. 03 M ,MMM .w,-pmwaQ, M Wm 10,000 00 agwlzllz mn. ?73wUmtwpeewdmmWw,wbUW1KMm,wwfk,01fmmwM Mwwwfbmaw W. q2vowvnw4JCMlgQIbw1g12u1eVL0vA,w0Qwu01f1wv4w.11Jj.
