Ivan Petrovich Pavlovi1849-1936i is widely recog-A nized as the founder of the practical theory of mod- ern public: education. His pioneering work in the field concerned salivation in dogs, and the condi- tioning of this reflex. For this study, Pavlov received the Nobel Prize in 1904. Although it was in the cate- gory of Medicine, no one was fooled. As it is com- mon knowledge that educators regard dogs as equal or superior in intelligence to human pups, the rela- tionship should betrebvious. Another biologist, Mario Savio, in 1964, discow ered a second principle of reflex unnoticed by Pavlov. It concerns the inherent reaction to reflex conditioning, and is referred to in the orthodox texts as the liFree Speech Movement. All the implica- tions of this curious reaction remain to be deci- phered, but it seems that the phenomenon is as uni- versal as the Pavlovian response. In its classic stages, the typical salivary response is replaced by violent vomiting which vomits vio- lence. ..
