The goals and ideals exemplifled by them stimulate the pupils to high standards of conduct and achievement. Accordingly, our graduates are better prepared for a self- disciplined life in the future. Mr. Brokamp 31 Counselors The counselors assist the students in shaping their plans for later life. Mr. Webb and Miss Logan aid Junior High students in adjusting to their new academic lives at Walnut Hills thereby eliminating many of the difhculties they might encounter in Senior High. Miss Manoukian and Mr. Rouse guide the students in their choice of curriculum and advise them on the selection of a proper college for the con- tinuance of their education. 5!: IQE x'fuw'x Aliss Logan. Miss Manoukian .. .. - .. a - q - :lllll 37. Mr. Rome Vii; aw; NW 33 Mr. Glam, 34 English The study of English has three fundamental components: the basic concepts of grammar that facilitate any form of expression, exposure to myriad forms of literature, and the essential need to develop, organize, and discipline the crea- tive Spirit. Through the study of literature the student learns to examine objectively and gains perception into the world in which he lives. Creative writing provides for an outlet of ideas in a disciplined, expressive form, and an unequaled opportunity for personal development and selfa evaluation. The student re- ceives a rich background in ancient culture as well as a deeper understanding of literature. With a. view to the present, the Latin language provides the basis for the struc- ture of many modern Romance languages. Miss Hope M 2.va Mum ... MT. Peanuts 'I'he juniors present their variety show, llPeanutsf in the fall of the year. Although the purpose of llPeanutsl, is basi- cally to raise money and unify the class, the experience means much more to members of the cast. llPeanuts,l repre- sents the spirit of fellowship and cooperation permeating the atmosphere during the first few weeks of school. It is excited anticipation, the joy of seeing weeks of hard work materialize into a successful show. For several weeks, gPea- nutsil becomes a way of life for its cast. The actual perform- ance culminates in a unity of minds and hearts, inclusive of the entire Junior Class. Ronna. Freiberg and John Mitzel, co-directors 0f the l'Peanuts of 564;: labored tirelessly to make it: a successful production. Memories of these weeks will always remain with the Class of 66; it will never cease feeling that the llPeanuts 0f l6? was the best ever. i z. .' a i y 32!! , Directors: Ronna Freiberg and john Mitzel. , Buzz Meuller, john Hiding, Eric Ta Ior, Howard Cohen. Almost all the responsibility of writing, directing, and performing the show is held by students. Here, any member of the student body has the chance to participate, to display his talents. One learns to work with others: to overcome frustrating setbacks, to take failure with dignity and success with pride. This yeafs Walnuts was an exiting parody of an event- ful political campaign. The two contenders were John Marzetti, an Italian mobster, and Schinkenbrot, a retired Indian hghter. With its nimble horses and ponies, its ex- cellent specialties and its flavorful continuity, Walnuts was a show to be remembered.
