In the fiftieth year of its existence this motto still stands as a summary of the purpose of our school. Rise to the highest-the highest in education, in citizenship, in democracy. This is its meaning, and this is the task which is placed be- fore us. We take up the banner, recalling the Words of Remson Bishop, the first principal of Walnut Hills High School: Let us always remember as We climb upward that each step makes the steady nerve, the strong heart, the earnest purpose more imperative, that We may keep the lofty position which We have dared to Winf' And let us always keep before us the image of the blue and gold banner which bears the proud inscription, c'Sursum ad Summumf' fF0lCi7ZgQ.'
