FQREWORD In the year 1788 immigrants, chiefly from New Jersey and Kentucky, established a settlement on a part of the land bought by John Cleves Symmes from the United States government. The tiny village of Losantiville has grown into the metropolis of Cincinnati, with a population of 451,000 inhabitantsg a powerful influence in the greatest nation of the world. ln 1895, six hundred and eighty-four pupils under the leadership of Mr. J. R. Bishop and twenty teachers, initiated Walnut Hills High School. From this inauspicious beginning the school has enlarged and relocated itself until now it is made up of 1486 pupils and seventy faculty mcmbersg a powerful influence in the best- governed city of the United States.
