You are the first graduating class of the new decade, a decade that begins with rampant inflation, Russian aggression in Afghanistan, American hostages in Iran, and social problems at home of immense proportions. This is the atmosphere in which you will begin your productive lives—or seek advanced education. But remember that every cloud has a bright side as well as a dark side. The problems of the 80’s—aggression, inflation, social problems, reinstatement of the draft, and others—also create new challenges, new opportunities, and new incentives. Cling to the “bright side as we enter the future. Do your best, and go with our best wishes for every success. Superintendent 6 Lawrence Eggleston. Superintendent Lawrence P. Eggleston Bs, Ms. Adv. Whitaker Executive Director Back in October, six seniors decided they would like to participate in Presidential Classroom for Young Americans. From that time until the middle of January, the group raised funds to attend P C. by contacting sponsors, selling ice cream bars at the school, holding a dance, and working at the concession stand during a basketball game. Beginning in the middle of January through the first part of March, the individuals each spent a week in Washington, D.C., where they studied the many areas of American national government. A major aspect of the program was the opportunity to meet other high school students from across the United States After they returned, the participants told of their experiences to some of the sponsoring organizations.
