THE MARCHING UNIFORMS Pictured on this page are Jan Brandenburg and Gary Gonigam showing the new band uniforms. In 1967 the high school band began striving for the goal of new uniforms, a goal which was dreamed about for years. Now, through the efforts and donations of hundreds, that dream has become a reality. In November, 1968, the DeMoulin Company received the order for 70 new uniforms. In January they arrived, and the students wore them proudly for the First time in public on March 15, when they attended the State Music Organization Contest at Kirkland. THE CONCERT UNIFORMS In 1967 the Walnut Band Booster Club was organized with Mrs. Glenn Tornow as its First president. Made up of the parents of the band members, this group began an active campaign to raise needed funds. Projects undertaken by the club with the co-operation of the band members were the sale of candy bars, Christmas cards, and chances on cakes at basketball games; an annual tag day on which band members canvassed the town to sell donation tags; a winter carnival and a talent show; and the serving of a banquet for a pork producers’ group. Added to these funds were donations from interested citizens and organizations and a large sum authorized by the school board from school funds. 68 ACTIVITIES Our Zom SENIOR PLAY CAST-Director, Mr. Wilson, Kathleen Gugerty, Bob DeKeyser, Penny Johnson, Al Hurst, Sharon Broers, Marion Olson, Vera Adams, Jim Twidell, Moneta Ohda, Linda Thompson, Cindy Westfall, Oren Pomeroy, Chris Goodale. “This is our doctor’s house—Doc Gibbs’.” 70 March 28 and 29, 1969 FRONT ROW—Wilberta Bohnert, Barb Pierson, Nancy Anderson, Barb Smith, Judy Wallace.
