From Spain I then went to France. Leading tours through the Louvre Museum were EMILY BRIAR and MARY ANN FRITZ. Also with the tour was ELLEN LEWIS, on her honeymoon. She has married an artist and they were looking for scenes and objects to paint. Later when I got back to the hotel there was a message inviting me to be a guest at MARVIN WILLSTEAD's plush open-air restaurant. The waitresses there were BETTY ANN WALLACE and RITA TODD. Such French accents! Believe me, JOANNE, everything said about France is true. It is a wonderful country to see. In England, familiar faces seen included BOB KARNES who was attending a science convention on outer space. JIM MONSON was appearing in the Olympics and BOB BENSON, cars for the world champion title. PHIL GERBITZ and LARRY FRANK were attending the World’s Fair. They both had new inventions on exhibit. Before long I was on my voyage homeward. Time went too fast, but every sight was truly enjoyed. Having thought my adventures were over, it surprised me as I boarded ship that I should see LARRY DURHAM and DUANE JACOBS. They too were heading homeward for they had come from the international agricultural convention. It wasn't till a day before we docked that I learned that SALLY COOK and ELAINE FORDHAM were also aboard. They were traveling with the Revlon Modeling Company under the new management of MARY KUHNERT. Before heading back to California, I took time to spend a few days in Washington, D.C. and New York City. Do you remember that night club we went to on our Senior trip? For sentimental reasons and curiosity’s sake, SHARON KELLY and SANDRA FRITZ, who took time off from their well-known dress shop (upper bracket, of course) and I went there. Guess who was doing his act--FR£D SCHUNEMAN! BROOKE HAURBERG also appeared with his magic act--SUE THOMPSON was his assistant! They too have been all around the world. Later in Washington, D.C. I saw Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, RICHARD BLAZIER, with two of his associates, KENNY BRAASCH and DALE KUHNERT. Because of their being so busy they didn’t have time to talk, but said they couldn’t wait till our next class reunion. Going home to California, I found ALYCE McCLOUD in Arizona running a beauty salon with much success. Her assistant, TdARLENE JOHNSON, has now become known as Miss Darlene because of her success and skill. As my plane landed in Los Angeles, who should roll out the red carpet but RONNIE REISS. And who should be the honored arrival but MR. GLASER! He has changed so that I hardly recognized him. Don’t you agree that Senator Glaser has done well for the state! Must close now because I must pack to take off once again--for Canada! See you in three years at the next class reunion. Stay happy! 27 As ever, JERI

PROPHECY OF THE CLASS OF 1963 Dear JOANNE, It's too bad you couldn't leave your office of federal intelligence to join me on my cruise to Europe. You'll never realize how many of our former classmates are spread all over the worldl When I arrived at the dock, the customs inspector was none other than MIKE LOWERY. We really had a nice chat; and as he wished me good luck on my trip, my eyes fell upon the baggage men. I recognized them to be DENNIS JONTZ and JIM ECKBERG. Later they told me they only did this job in their spare time--that is between the tours of their famous basketball teams. They said they couldn't stay away from people, so took on this job more or less for fun. As I went up the gangplank, the captain who greeted me turned out to be GLENN LAURITZEN. What a surprise to see him! You know, it's so easy to loose track of the members of our class after graduation. During the trip I ran into MELODY WHITVER who headed the social and recreational activities. In the galley--BILL ESMOND was the head chef! Such meals--everything was so delicious. MARGO ROLLINS and DEANNA BROERS were the secretaries for those aboard ship who wished to communicate with home businesses. BRUCE BURKEY kept them quite busy as he wrote back to the James Thurber Enterprises for further instructions. JOHN STAUTER quite often communicated with the State Department--don't you agree that he has done quite well for our government as an ambassador of good will? At last we reached our first stop, Spain. What sights--everything was so beautiful--it practically took my breath away! Once settled in JOHN FINK'S Stacy Hilton Hotel. I took off for the bull ring--JIM MEYER was being honored for the beginning of his fifteenth year of matadoring. Such a change in that man! He's dyed his hair black and had a permanent--really hard to believe he has absolutely no Italian in him. The bulls used for the fights come from JIM BLAZIER’s Circle B Ranch. Having a few hours to spare before lunch, I took time to drive out to his ranch. Things are really going well for him--he has over 20,000 acres of nothing but beautiful country. It really made me homesick to see the open spaces. For a night on the town a group of us went to an elegant nightclub. Frankly, the food wasn’t as good as found on the ship, but the entertainment was marvelous. DICK WHITVER, BILL WIBERG, DENNIS GUITHER, ELLEN BODELSON, and JANICE ANDERSEN under the direction of NANCY SAUNDERS, supplied the music. Their vocalist was VICKI BROWN. They had just come from serenading the Queen of England and all were in high spirits. 26
