We lived through the ordeal and found that rt was fun With the help of Miss Dufelmeier our advisor we chose to sell candy at the football and basketball games as our money making proyect for the year Our two large responsibilities were to prepare refreshments for the Homecoming Dance and to decorate the gym for the Valentine s Party The end of the year found us with little money but high hopes Our Sophomore year gave us confidence and we felt more at ease with the upperclassmen Adrian Magnuson led the class as President Mary Ann Schuneman was Vice President and Marilyn Foss was Secretary Treasurer M johnson was our advisor and we con enlarge our treasury even more we picked up corn Being the custom to put on a class assembly program we dressed as small children and re enacted 1 typical country schoolhouse Christmas party We decorated for the Homecoming Dance and prepared refreshments for th leap Year Dance We were then half way through high school and we knew the next two years would bring more and bigger responsibilities mrghr say perhaps that our unior year was the busiest for we no sooner finished one propect when we started another The capable leaders for this year were Bill Schmitt President Dolores Cerdes Vice Presl dent Yvonne Brandenburg Secretary Treasurer and Mr ohnson once again was our advisor We decided that milk is more healthful than candy so we replaced our candy machines with a refrigerator full of milk To start the year off right we put on a very successful play Taming the Brat under the direction of Nlrs Watson Next the class elected a Paper Staff which kept the students and parents well informed of the latest gossip and activities going on at school Then came time to select our class rings which we had been looking forward to since our Freshman year The class entertained the student body with an assembly program based upon the T V show Arthur Godfrey s Talent Scouts M ohnson acting as Arthur Godfrey Again we took part rn the annual dances furnishing entertain ment for the Homecoming Dance and refreshments for the St Patrrek s Dance The year was coming to a close and we elected our Annual Staff so they could get an early start in producing an outstanding Annual To climax the year the Seniors Faculty and Board of Education were guests of the juniors at the well planned unror Senior Banquet and Prom The gym was decorated as a penthouse roof and we dined and danced under a blue sky filled with many stars Before we realized it we were the Senrors of Walnut High lt was our turn to initiate the Freshmen and we tried our best to make it memorable l The class officers were Pat McCarthy President Nancy Gustafson Vice President Ann Kindt Secretary Dolores Gerdes Treasurer and Mr LaRussa Advisor Since this was the last y ar to raise money for our trip we worked harder than ever We sold sweatshirts pencils stationery orchids and had bake sales W also took part in the Mid Winter Carnival sponsored by program This ls Your Life about Mr Vail our basket ball coach At the Homecoming Dance we served refreshments and at the Sprlng Formal we provided entertainment The Seniors started a new precedent this year by having a Senior Dress Up Day and then the next day weanng our oldest clothes to school A the end of the year approached we became more busy There were weeks of practice for the Senior play Stranger In the Night directed by Mr Edsill Then there was the Prom which we enjoyed very much because the uniors had to do all the work Next was our class trip to Washington something we shall never forget Above all was the planning and excrtement of graduation Though our class is small we have excelled in sports music and scholarship We are ready and eager to go into the world and succeed in our highest ZmblIl0l'lS For this we wish to thank Mr Snider and the faculty the Board of lducatron and all our advisors who helped us so much s s I 1 t . . . , ,, . . , r. j . , . , . - - .. . , I- , , ' Y Y k 5 , o s 4 . - . , .
