The Keyettes is a girls' service club sponsored by the Red Oaks Women's Club. Their activities are primarily serv- ice proiects for our community. This year they collected candy for children in hos- pitals on Halloween and participated in the T969 Cancer Crusade. Their major project this year has been the making of alphabet books for mentally-ill children. Keyettes' oFFicers include President Elsie Beardsley, Vice-President Kathy Jones, Secretary Julie Morris, Treasurer Barbara Daniel and Historian Kathy McCrossan. The Key Club is advised by Mr. Jansen. lt is a service organization sponsored by the Kiwanis. Members of the Key Club this year raised money by selling refresh- ments at home football and basketball games. They also collected money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and pro- moted Operation Drug Alert , realizing the hazard ot drugs. E i fig-sh l970 KEYETTES OFFICERS. Ja ne Mason. The Dame's Ball, a time consuming affair, was undertaken with a special flair by this year's Sophomore Class. It was held in March, ending five months of preparation. The class also produced a prize-winning float for the Homecoming festivities. The first proiect of the Freshman Class was the building and entry of their float in the Homecoming Parade. The class held its an- nual dance on April 17. Using the profit from this event, fwhose theme was Parapherna- lia l, they revived the traditional Freshman Picnic. The officers for this year are President Ben Newman, Vice President Jack Anderson, Secretary Shirley Bennett and Treasurer Sue Taylor. M i WEE 'X 339 U ex X Knights News Editor-in-Chief Richard Frie- del has supervised the publication of seven issues ofthe school newspaper. A new column, Under the Wall , was initiated into it. The statt includes Business Editors Linda Bushek and Ronalee Murdoch, Feature Editor Susan Smith and Photography Editor Gary Wieland. This year the 1970 Lance was divided into an album section for student portraits and activities, and a student life section which was increased to sixty-five pages. Sacrifices by Rick Friedel, Sue Smith, Donna Cooke and Chris West led to completion of this edition of the Lance.
