EDITOQIALS Th1s fall another presi dential election will be held Tho will be the VlCtOT9 mat will be the outcomeo will de mocracy still be safe? These and many more nuestions face the people of Haerica lect in a president has always been a job that the people of Ameri ca have rewarded seriously Why shouldn't they? It is the factual evidence that democracy and its freedoms are not decay ing. This war proves that the free countries think enou h of Demo cracy to sacrlfice the lives of their people to make sure of its contlnuance The vital strug le nom ln progress has shown the need for capable and far seeing men to or anize and lead the people. Difficult as it is to select a presldent in peace time, it select one 1U war t11e That 1S why the people should be ten times more sure that they elect the right man durinf these war periods The voters should be sure that the next president has all the qualitles of leaders ip that are necessary and that he has the abillty and fortltude meet every occasion that con fronts him Many men seem to the public eye to meet the neces sary eualifications, but so1e times they fall short of their mark TlectinL a president is not an event to be looked at in dwfferently, but a choice to be made wisely, not only for the next electlon, but for all of tle elections to cone. The voters should knov xhat the times demand of a leader and what the future is likely to demand of him. They should look into the oackvround of each candidate and study his personality and accompl shments up to the present If they feel sure of hin in the first place, satwsfactory results of this investl ation will make them that much more sure of their choices So1e of the people seldom voteo They feel th t their one vote would not nake any dliference, so they just don't bother. 'here would thls at titude lead if everyone adopt ed it? The voters should not let themselves be swayed by political partles, interested only in thelr oxn ains, the should male use of that valu able and precious ri ht, the vote for who1ever they wish. If we do these thin s we can be assured of the long life of a Democracy maintalned Jr the consent of the people arle Tibbetts f' 7 The American's Creed UI believe 1n the United States of lnerlca as a govern ment of the people, by the people, for the people dlliam Tyler Page ' 1 . -D 7 k l 'I 1' r ' 1- I.
