l f-4-f . .. - The city of Beppu was our next port, and strange it was to the crew. But it didn't take long to get acquainted and find out what to do. From the cable car to the hot baths we spent our money and time, We didn't regret it tho', because we felt we were treated fine. For the hrst time in history, as far as I know-and I'm a knowing sort- We had actual payday, while in a really good port. 3 While in Beppu good conduct medals were awarded. Present af the ceremomes were Capt. John D. Bulkeley, Commander of DesDiv l32, fha Mayor of Beppu, his inferprefer and secretary. Beppu was famous for its Buddha. ..
