Commander CarlR. Cunningham, Jr., USN, is a native of Atlanta, Geofglav the sonof Mrs. Carl R. Cunningham and the late Carl R. Cunningham, Sr- He is agraduate of Georgia School of Technology where he received his commisSi0I1 as Ensign in the Naval Reserve in June 1935. He transferred to the Regular Navy after World War II. Commander Cunningham's active Naval service extends back prior to World War II. Previous duties include Commanding Officer of U. S. S. YMS 1073 C0111 mending Officer ofthe U. s. s. FIDELITY QAM-965, later Pc 16003 Comm-Hndmg Officer U. S. S. TRIUMPH QAM-3233, Commanding Officer U. S. S. PEREGRINCE QAM-3733 Commander Service Squadron FIVE, U. s. Atlantic Fieetg ODGIHUOHS Officer, COMINLANTQ Executive Officer, U.s. s. NOBLE QAPA-2185: OPGT' ations Officer U. S. S. TOLEDO fCA-1332, Inspector Instructor Naval Reserve , Tampa, Florida, which duty he performed just prior to reporting aboard the WALDRON. He has been commanding officer of the U. S. S WALDRON Since 13 February 1952. Commander Cunningham is a veteran of the I':1eific 'Flit-zitni, having Part' icipated in Several invasions during the past war, including the recapture of the Philippine Islands.
