OSBORNE PRINCIPAL JOSEPH M. SULLIVAN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL PATRICIA A. HALLINAN HOUSEMASTER PRINCIPAL ' S MESSAGE To the Class of 1989 The calvacade of events which are taking place during your senior year are both exciting and prophetic in nature. A presidential election year is a time of a restatement of values, a time of reassess.T.ent , a time of looking ahead to the future, a time for you as an individual to lock ahead and begin to seek ouc your place in the world. The iiiipacL of international events reveal the shrinking nature of our world and force global concerns into our consciousness. The need for energy, the need for a safe atmosphere and environment, the need to assist third world nations, the need to work toward disarmament, the need to continue to investigate the nature of our physical world and the need to begin to view our world as one large family sharing the many concerns with uchers. You as a citizen must be aware oi your world, the forces that drive society, that enhance culture, and be aware of the political solutions and approaches to the many problems. This is not an easy task. The many forces and events swirling around you will, however, affect the conditions under which you will live. Be curious, ask for good answers, be kind to your fellow man and strive for self reliance. We at Wakefield High School wish you all a happy, challenging, secure and successful future! Raymond U. Mr. Kevin Kilfoyle We, the Class of ' 89, dedicate our yearbook to you, Mr. Kevin Kilfoyle. We are the luckiest class to ever enter Wakefield High because we were fortunate enough to have you for our class advisor and our friend. You have done so much for us over the past four years. By helping us realize our full potential, we were able to raise money through fundraisers and make our proms and other class activities unbelievably successful. There was never a dull moment when you were around. You have a special teaching quality that makes learning both fun and meaningful. Many turned to you for help, both private and educa- tional, and you were always there to lend a hand and help out in any way you possibly could. Your humorous anecdotes would always bring a smile to our faces and make every day seem a little bit brighter. No pres- sure, was your motto, and that is exactly how you handled difficult situations: slow, precise, and with knowing expertise. You managed to get us out of all the tough spots we ended up in. The Class of 1989 would like to thank you, Mr. Kilfoyle, for everything you have done to make our class so successful. To sum it all up, we would just like to say: Killer, you ' re the best. Good luck to you and your family in your new job. We miss you! Wl tKlk Special Recognition Mr. Scott Lang Mr. Lang, the class of 1989 would like to thank you for all you ' ve done for us. You ' ve inspired us to learn by encouraging us to think for ourselves and to express our own ideas. Your unique teaching style has made English both interesting and fun. Most of all, we would like to thank you for being the wonderful, caring person that you are. We would also like to give our best wishes to you and your family in i your new home. We miss you Scooter!! 1 Mrs. Carol Ferrazano The class of 1989 would like to thank you, Mrs. Ferrazano, for not only being an outstanding English and drama teacher, but also a friend. Your caring ways and cheerful smile have brightened the worst of days. You have inspired us to give life our all and to never give up. You have taught us that if we follow our dreams, anything ' s possible. We can never repay you for all you ' ve done. Thanks, Ms. Fez., we will never forget you!! Special Recognition « Ms. Arlene Glenn We would like to thank you for being both a wonderful teacher and a special friend. You are always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. The memories we have of you and the infamous Green Machine will remain with us long after we graduate. Your sense of humor and loving personality made our classes both educational and fun. Even those not fortunate enough to have you for a teacher were touched by your warm smile and friendly hello. You put up with so much, even though we did sometimes drive you banana wacky ! Ms. Kimberly Smith The Class of 1989 recognizes that you are not just an outstanding music teacher, but a special friend to all Your superior teaching and guidance has given students the motivation to succeed in whatever they choose to do after high school. You are a highly-regarded human being and the knowledge that we have received from you will stay with us for life. A special spot in the hearts of all your students is set aside to remember your dedication, support, and understanding that you have given to us. Thank you. Miss Smith, you are an exceptional personi one that we will never forgot. 11 Oracle ' 89 Staff Easy As I, 2, 3 . . , f Jenney— Ed I— Well, I needed it. like, last Steve— Ed 2— Wait, wan. We now present to the class of ' 89 this yearbook-, the product of our hard work, laughter, tears, love, hate and dedication. ft 1 1 I T The Oracle staff would like to thank the follow- ing individuals for being so nifty! Mrs. Beherrell — for pretending that we really did know what we were doing and she was just reminding us. We would also like to thank her for being able to keep calm in all situations, for her ability to give advice like Dear Abby , and most of all for ha ving the patience of GOD! Amen! Tom Keeley — A.K.A. Tom Jostens — for man- aging to keep himself from killing us when we were late for our deadlines (provided we didn ' t give him any coffee!) Joe Flora — for taking all of those great pictures when we had photographer trouble Jimmy A. , Jerry Bourque, and the rest of the custodial staff — for tolerating our presence late at night, and for letting us into the room when we lockd our keys insidel ' iU- ' ,,.• ? . ' i.- r; v ' Wg You ' ve Got A Fast Car Driving: Think of the possibilities once you get your license . . . In three days you could be in Florida. But more realistically speaking, there are so many advantages-, no more rainy, snowy bus stops, and no more praying someone will drive by when you still have three more miles to walk. The harsh reality that getting your license is not the cure-all of boredom that you thought it was. But still there is the cruising the strip, going away on weekends with friends, and the possibility that a good time exists, somewhere. Friends . . . Okay, like. Friends are like, the coolest thing about school. Okay, well, like, if you have them, okay? It ' s kind of like, you know, like, when you ' re with your boy- friend and, well, never mind. But like, no, when you ' re with your friends like, you can do stuff that, well, you just can ' t do when, you ' re, like alone, you know? But like, just think what a real drag it would be to like, go cruisin and like, be sitting in a car like, totally alone. No, cause, like, if you didn ' t have friends, who ' d you go to detention with, you know? So like, what I ' m sayin is that, like, friends are totally cool and I like mine a wicked lot. wtrWKM IjjH .. . m m: V M After Two , , . The time.- 1:54 pm . . . the place: a really dull class. You just can ' t wait for the bell to ring. Where is that @S bell?!? Finally, it rings . . . FREE A T LASTlll For some, the last bell means running off to catch the bus for an afternoon of eating Smartfood and watching soap operas - did Jeremy ac- tually kill Sonia? For others, the bell means running up to detention - am I really late? For still other students, the day begins again at 2:00 with sports, music, play rehearsal, makeup tests, math team meets to go to, or for many, a part time job. tj:Af : J: : 22 23 Teacher, Can You Teach Me? Academics Wakefield High School has a very large and varied academic curriculum. The selections vary from cooking to computers, honors to general, business to college. Wakefield ' s En- glish Department is known for its superb teaching of writing skills. Social Studies has courses from Asian Studies to Modern Day Problems. It doesn ' t matter if a student is looking for a career in business, art, science, or math, our curriculum has the right course to get one started in the right direction. Even though it may not seem so all the time, we students appreciate the dedication and attention given to us by all our teachers! Bum, Baby, Burn The Thanksgiving Day Game — an event that we look forward to every year. The one time of the year that Wakefield High School seems to really get together in true school spirit. Everything began three days before the game with Spirit Week. Hundreds of WHS students donned their poodle skirts and penny loafers for Fifties day, dressed in their best Hawaiian garb for Beach Day. and dressed in red and white to honor Wake- field ' s school colors on red and white day. The night before the game was the tradi- tional pep rally. We all got together to cheer on our team as we were entertained by the cheerleaders, majorettes and pom pom squad, and wished the football team the best of luck for the next day ' s game. And, of course, we all huddled around the bon fire, eagerly awaiting a victory for the Warriors. The next day it seemed as though all of Wakefield was at the game, bundled up in their warmest sweaters, blankets, and thick, fuzzy socks, cheering and screaming them- selves hoarse before going home for their yummy turkey dinner. Although the Warriors did not win this year, the boys played tough and fought hard. . yia jf ' i rr-v: . ' e ' - l ' KS ' . April 2r 50, 1988 Wakefield High Scliool The drama department again produced another great musical. The cast, crew and director worked extremely hard for three months to put it all together. Their efforts were well worth while, for throughout this peri- od of time they bonded together and became like fam- ily. They learned how to deal with one another, how to work together as a group, and most importantly, they learned to accept others for what they are. Performed in the upstairs gym, the play ran for four nights. It was a collage of color, music and dance. Everyone on stage entertained the audience with their energy, livliness and talent.
